What's To Come, AKA: A Dangerous Post

So we all know that by the end of 2013, we will have all have bought lots of books, right? Well I'm here to tempt you with ALL of the 2013 releases that I'm already looking forward to :p I actually had most of these preordered already, but I removed my credit card from my Amazon account to recontrol my finances (again), so they've now been written on a calendar on the release date they're coming out. That way I can look forward to a trip to a bricks and mortar bookstore on release days now :) So without further ado (because it's a lot), here's everything I'm looking forward to in 2013 SO FAR:

January

January 8th - Chu's Day by Neil Gaiman - For many this will be a Gaiman that you'll pass up, but for me, I'm a bit of a completeist when it comes to Neil Gaiman. So I'll be picking up this new picture book for the younger set by Neil!

January 15th - Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans - Yes, OUR Lenore!!! I'm not even excited just because this is Lenore's book, it genuinely sounds incredible and I can't wait to pick this one up!

February

February 5th - The Bird King by Shaun Tan - So excited about this one!!! It's a collection of Shaun Tan's sketches and other wonderful things :)

February 14th - Who Done It? edited by Jon Scieszka - This one sounds excellent! It's a collection of short pieces by tons of awesome YA authors convincing you that they didn't do the crime.

February 26th - The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson - YES! The sequel to The Name of the Star at last which I loved SO MUCH!

March

March 12th - The Cats of Tanglewood Forest by Charles de Lint illustrated by Charles Vess - So I THINK this is the expanded version of Circle of Cats that I've been waiting for forever!!! And it looks absolutely gorgeous!! Can't wait :D

March 12th - Wool: Omnibus Edition by Hugh Howley - I don't even know if I can wait this long to read this one!! I didn't have much interest in it until everyone put it on their end of the year lists and made it sound incredible...may have to get this one in ebook form!

March 20th - Before and Afterlives by Christopher Barzak - Christopher Barzak's short story collection!

March 28th - The Unwritten Vol. 7 by Mike Carey - Because I need the next volume...

April

April 3rd - Gulp by Mary Roach - New. Mary. Roach.

April 23rd - Cooked by Michael Pollan - A new Michael Pollan!! A book that looks at the way we cook and prepare and treat our food.

April 23rd - The Silver Dream by Neil Gaiman - So I haven't heard much about this one at ALL, but it looks to be a second Interworld novel!! I wasn't crazy about Interworld, but yeah..gonna read this one anyway!

April 23rd - Unnatural Creatures: short stories selected by Neil Gaiman - Oh yeah....after loving Stories so much, I'm super excited about another anthology edited by Gaiman!!

April 23rd - Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls by David Sedaris - Yeah...as you can see, April 23rd is going to be a baaaaad day :p But a great one too. But I won't be able to leave this one at the bookstore! Finally a new collection of David Sedaris essays!!!!

May

May 7th - Invisibility by Andrea Cramer and David Levithan - I've decided that I just need to read anything and everything that Levithan writes for now on.

May 14th - Make Good Art by Neil Gaiman - This looks to be a beautiful edition of Neil's commencement speech that he gave last year that went wild around the internet. Can't wait to own a printed copy!

May 14th - Mouse Bird Snake Wolf by David Almond illustrated by Dave McKean - Yay new Almond/McKean collaboration!!

May 14th - Yellowcake by Margo Lanagan - Her short story collection that I've been waiting FOREVER to be released in the US!!! Finally!

May 16th - Wild Ones by Jon Mooallem - So looking forward to this one. Nonfic recommended by Mary Roach!! It's a debut book all about our relationship with animals and how we view them and tend to commercialize them.

June

June 18th - The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman - This year is ALL ABOUT this gorgeous book!!!!!! I cannot wait for new adult Gaiman fiction!!! So freaking excited about this book!! And I can tell you already that it'll be on my top reads of 2013 :p Because Neil is just that kind of author.

August

August 27th - Love in the Time of Global Warming by Francesca Lia Block - New FLB!!! I didn't even know about this until Ana posted about it the other day!

September

September 24th - Doctor Sleep by Stephen King - Oh yeah...a SEQUEL TO THE SHINING!!

OK...so what am I missing? Because clearly that's just not enough books already :P

I have one for February! I'm not sure if you've read Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series, but they're awesome, fun books. One of my friends described them as a "steampunk comedy of manners." She has a new (related) series coming out, and the first book, Etiquette & Espionage will be out in February!

Good lord, how do you even keep track of all this?!! I never know what's coming out unless I read it on a book blog...and I generally tend to forget anyway until it comes out. Me = Pathetic :P

Hey hun!! I wanted to thank you for the beautiful Christmas card. I have been lax the last few years, and didn't get a chance to send any in return. My December was spent with finals....and work every available hour. I'm sorry!! But I love you, and wanted to stop in and wish you a Happy New Year!! Hopefully, I will be "seeing" you a lot more this year!! I've missed you!

I had no idea that Neil Gaiman had so many books being published this year! Love in the Time of Global Warming looks amazing!

The new Neil Gaiman certainly sounds like a good'un!

I was watching a quiz show earlier today and found out that the title of your blog, Chris, is a quote from The Tempest. I honestly did not know that...

Nicole, I STARTED the first book on my Nook and was actually really enjoying it, just never got back to it. Really need to!! I forget about the books on my nook :p Exciting she has a new series!!

Pat, I so need to catch up in that series!! I loved the first one! And you really don't want to know how high my TBR pile is :p

Manda, There really are!!!

Debi, I don't even know where I hear about these things but I'm a bit obsessed with keeping track of preorders :p

Oooh, April is gonna be awesome! I know what I'm buying myself for my birthday. ;-)

We should plan a group read of Gulp!

Gonna be some great Gaiman coming out this year, I'm very excited about all of it except the Interworld sequel. I just didn't think the first one had any Gaiman flair to it and given that the next has two co-authors my enthusiasm just isn't there.

I'm looking forward to John Scalzi's newest in his Old Man's War universe. It is being released in episodes starting this month and then later as a complete book. I plan on reading it as it comes out as that will be a new experience for me.

I need to get caught up with Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century (2 books behind) as I believe she has another one coming out late this year.

I knew about the Stephen King, which I am already waiting for so desperately, but finally Yellowcakes is out here! Yaaaaay! I've been waiting for it too, it looks really good. And then there is the Neil Gaiman (the Ocean at the End of the Lane), and the Maureen Johnson - I really enjoyed the first one, it was spooky and creepy and good horror fiction. Awesome!!! YOu have a lovely list of books you are waiting for, my friend! And I have a tiny list that will probably grow sooner :-)

There are so many books on this list that I haven't heard about and so many that I want to read. Ugh! I will be even more broke by the time the year is out :)

I'm impressed! I don't keep up with new releases or to-be released books. I have been hearing outstanding things about Wool, though.

I don't usually pre-order books, but I could not bear the idea of not having our Lenore's book arrive the moment it's released, so I pre-ordered Level 2. One more week, I think! And, then I went and pre-ordered Scarlet because I loved Cinder, but only thanks to a gift card for Christmas. 'Cause, really . . . I don't pre-order. You are nuts. I can't believe you've already ordered books that don't come out till August and September!!!!

I am so so so worried that i will hate Dr. Sleep. I want to love it but, moreso, i don't want to HATE it! I'm on board with all the Gaiman and will be reading the Mary Roach and the next Unwritten volume.
