Dewey's Readathon Update The First!

Good morning readathoners!! I've been up since 4AM, so I got an early start :p I've already started reading so here's my first update post along with the introductory meme :) I'm starting with Constable and Toop by Gareth Jones and LOVING it! And sporting my classic readathon "Reading This Shit Is Crazy" tshirt :p

Currently Reading: Constable & Toop by Gareth P. Jones

Total Pages Read Since Last Update: 68

Total Pages Read Cumulative: 68

Total Books Read: Zero

Time Spent Reading Since Last Update: 56 Minutes

Total Time Spent Reading: 56 Minutes

Drinks Consumed: 1 big glass of water, starting an iced mocha

Food Eaten: A waffle and fried ham

Progress Report: About 130 pages into Constable & Toop and just finally starting to wake up after being up for 3 hours. It's going to be a loooong day and I see some naps in my future :p It'll get better now though now that other people are up too! And now for the introductory meme!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Mandeville, Louisiana in my cozy little apartment :)

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Oooh...that's a toughy. Probably the one I'm reading now, Constable & Toop as I went ALL OVER THE PLACE yesterday hunting it down and finally found it at one of my library branches. Seriously, that was a hard book to find.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Velveeta and rotel dip. Hands down.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I've been doing the readathons since the beginning, I've been blogging here since January 2007 and I've made it tradition now to take the week before the readathon off of work :) That way, not only do I have the readathon to look forward to twice a year, but two weeks of vacation a year too!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Apparently get a lot less sleep :/ But that wasn't intentional. I think I'll be much more care free with this readathon. Blog when I want, nap when I want. Just have a good, relaxing time. I normally focus so much on numbers and I'll still do that but I won't be crushed if I don't hit my 1000 page mark that I always shoot for :p And I'm not going to fight sleep if I need it!

Not sure if it's just my computer or what, but only the first question of your meme is showing up and then there's just a big blank area. :( We are certainly going into this one in quite a state, aren't we? :P I'm just going to go with the flow though--if I'm a goofy sleep-deprived dork, so be it, if I need to take a nap, so be it, if I can't even finish an entire book, so be it. All that matters is that we have fun, right? Dewey lives in our hearts every day, but there are certain days like today where she makes me heart feel enormous. Poorly written, but I know you know what I mean. Love you so much, dear friend!!! Soooo much!!!

What a go-getter you are! You always kick my butt in number of hours and pages read, and I'm very proud of you. So far, I've only been leaving comments, but that counts as a bit of reading too, right? Plus, I love this event fore community as much as the reading (have I told you lately how much I love the book mark with lace you sent me last year, and I use it all the time?!)

I thought I knew every town in Louisiana...my dad's from there...Delhi, near the Mississippi/Louisiana border. Hope you're having a great time!

LOVE the shirt Chris! :) I have to agree about not fighting the sleep thing too. I try once we get in the early, wee hours, but it gets tough! I love that you take time off for the readathon. That's a thought. That really is something I should consider...

It's so fun getting to talk to all of you guys again!

I'm still working on the nap when I want idea. My body feels like it needs a nap (you know, that slightly icky not enough sleep feeling), but the caffeine is still coursing through the veins. I read your updates backwards...sounds like you're having a pretty good day despite the no sleep, though!
