The Day Before!

It's almost time for Dewey's Readathon guys (not too late to sign up yet!!)! This just never gets old for me....I swear that every single time the night before a readathon comes it feels like Christmas Eve to me. I've spent today just planning for tomorrow so that I can't wake up (at an ungodly hour for me :p) and just spend the entire day reading, blogging, reading friends blogs, stuffing my face, drinking coffee and relaxing.

As we speak I have a shepherd's pie in the oven cooking which will be my main meal tomorrow (and the next day, and the next day). I managed to cut the shit out of my right ring finger which is NOT making it fun to type right now with a giant bandaid on it. Yes yes...I just sharpened my knives a week ago and while cutting an onion, I learned that HEY, the knife sharpener really worked!

Once that's finished cooking, I'm making a lemon meringue pie for tomorrow too :D Two of them actually....my mom requested one too so I'll bring her one on Sunday when I go down to her house for the Saint's game. Aside from those two delicacies there will also be frozen grapes and doritos on the menu tomorrow :p And coffee. Always coffee.

And what will I be reading you ask? Well let me tell you! Here are the books that have been on my "omg I want to read these books right now" pile so I'll most likely be choosing from these throughout the day:

Boxers by Gene Luen Yang (I need to get Saints too!)
Love in the Time of Global Warming by Francesca Lia Block
Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick
An Appetite for Wonder by Richard Dawkins
The Death of Bees by Lisa O'Donnell
Not Your Mother's Meatloaf by Saiya Miller & Liza Bley
Night Film by Marisha Pessl
Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan
Kinfolk Vol. 9
The Call of Cthulu and Other Weird Tales by H.P. Lovecraft
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
In the House Upon the Dirt Between the Lake and the Woods by Matt Bell
Far From the Tree by Andrew Solomon
XO, Orpheus edited by Kate Bernheimer
The Best American Short Stories 2013
Carrie by Stephen King
May We Be Forgiven by A.M. Homes

That should be enough to keep me busy, eh? :p I plan on reading for charity too, so this year, as I try to do each October, I'll be giving 10 cents per page to NaNoWriMo for their Young Writer's Program. I like giving to them because $50 supports one entire classroom of kids writing, providing them with kits and motivation to write an entire novel. So if I can read 1,000 pages, that's two clasrooms full of kids that I'm helping to create a love of writing, the written word, creativity and hopefully books in general. And hey, it's partially selfish too because maybe one of those kids will become a favorite author of mine someday :p

So that's it for today!! I'll see you all bright and early tomorrow morning :) Happy reading everyone!

So many good books!! Night Film is an excellent readathon book, except that it'll maybe take up all of your reading hours. It's SO FUN and I couldn't put it down once I started it.

Great looking books Chris! I am glad to see you are reading again. This will be my 8th time--and so many of the bloggers I used to follow back in the early days, either don't blog anymore or don't do the read-a-thon. I hope to visit you tomorrow on my rounds--
Your food sounds great! I am making chex mix for it, as I type. :)

Just wanted to pop in now to wish you a happy, happy, happy fun-filled morning read-a-thon-ing!!!!! We've got to leave shortly for the Zombie Run and won't be back until probably close to 11:00, but I wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you!!! Hopefully I squeeze in a fair bit of reading while we're gone too. LOVE YOU!!!
