Reflections....

I felt like blogging about a variety of things and nothing in particular at the same time, so I figured I'd do just that. That's kind of what this blog is becoming and honestly, I'm happier with this blog than I've been in a long time. I'm enjoying still talking about books when I read them but not JUST being a book blogger. It's becoming a "life blog" and let's face it, books are a big part of my life.

I was talking to Debi over email the other day and was mentioning to her how I've been in a little bit of a funk lately and have been pretty moody lately too and can't seem to shake it when she pointed out to me that it's August. Anyone that's known me for awhile knows that July and August are never good months for me, lol. The heat just gets me so bad. I HATE heat and I'd take the winter any day over the summer. It's funny how as a counselor I can tell everyone else to be aware of there triggers but can be so UNAWARE of my own.

But I've started to remind myself to take notice of the little things to keep me happy. Like the pictures above. I came home from a frankly hellacious day of work during a hellacious week and it was nice and rainy and peaceful outside, so I went and just looked at my garden. The eggplant are putting out new flowers, the mint is climbing the driftwood birdhouse, the deliciously sweet peppers are fruiting like crazy and the dahlias are dying in the beautiful way that they do. That's one thing I love about dahlias...I think they're prettiest as they die. Not something you can say about most things.

I've also stuck with my journal aside from the last two nights. Getting back to it tonight though :) I took Care's advice on what I'm doing with this journal. I'm writing a little bit about my day, a few things I'm grateful for each day, and a few lines about what's going on in the garden :) And if I ever have a few little mementos of the day that I can paste into it, that'll be fun too :) Yep...life's really pretty good right now.

On an unrelated note, I'm debating on what to do with my comments situation. I've been trying to email responses to comments and for the most part that's working pretty well and has led to some good conversations. But I'm considering going back to just answering comments on the blog for two reasons. 1. I don't have everyone's email address who comments and for a lot of the comment notifications the email address is the "noreply@blogger.com" so I can't just hit reply. 2. It doesn't allow for real conversation in the comments which I actually like. Hmmm....maybe I'll just go back to answering comments on the blog. or maybe I'll do a mix of the two...who the hell knows how this'll all turn out :p

Ok...I'll shut up...for now...

Hey, your little things didn't just cheer you up--they just cheered me up as well. Been feeling a tad, well, shall be say "cranky with a big dose of bitchy on top" this evening. Not even sure why, though probably just frustration over all work/no play routine of this week. Anyway, your pictures just gave me the. biggest. smile. Partly because they're gorgeous and relaxing and happy. And partly because they're just so YOU. :D

Gorgeous photos!

You'd like Morro Bay...it's pretty consistently in the low to mid 60s. Although the fog can be a bit depressing after awhile.

I hope you're writing in your journal right now. It makes me happy to think that the cute little Rhodia journal is getting used.

I've lost touch with my blog too..(I can't even take pictures as there are only ducks and Ibis around because of the heat)... my blog has turned into only books except for the one post you just remarked on (voices)and I rarely get comments..I musta said something huh? lol
It's so hot and humid here I never walk or even go outside unless it's to go food shopping or a doctor..I get sweaty and naucious too quick from the heat. so it looks like we are all in a "crummy place" because it's August lol... But just think: in 3 weeks it's September and... RIP!! That will give us all something to smile about!!!!

Well, thank goodness for Debi. :) It is pretty awful out there. Imagine moving the contents of a house that you've lived in for 20 years in this heat and humidity. No, don't. Imagine snow, instead. LOL That's what I'm trying to do.

You read Menagerie! Isn't it wonderful? I got that one as a review book and I could just stare at it all day. Such gorgeous, creative photos. Love the way she used frames and the adorable animals are such an upper. Shadow Show is great, too. Just finished that one, this week, and happened across a book of Ray Bradbury's short stories whilst packing, so I'm hoping to read that soon, also. But, it'll probably get packed, instead.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend, Chris!

I hate the heat, too. Lorrie's friend from Arizona was complaining about the heat there and this lead Lorrie to calculate our heat the other day... It was HOTTER than Arizona... We have humidity and they don't...

Hope you had a great weekend, Chris!
