Bad Bloggers!

With not too many points to give out I'm afraid....A little bit better this week...unless you head over to the Penguin blog, then it's just really bad. I've decided to keep those books over there, because that's really a separate collection. And the only reason so many came in this week was because I had TONS of PaperbackSwap credits and found a whole bunch over there. I also have a few book reviews I could post, but I've been lazy this weekend and haven't written anything up :/ So you just get a bad bloggers post for this week. So here's what came into the house this week:

1. Safekeeping by Karen Hesse - This one is an ARC that was sent to me...sounds interesting! (Review Copy)

2. Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher - I saw Carrie Fisher on the Roast of Roseanne the other night on Comedy Central and she really just cracked me up. So I thought I'd check out this autobiography of hers. (Paperback Swap)

3. Self Made Man by Norah Vincent - I'm really loving Vincent's book that I'm reading right now, Voluntary Madness so I thought I'd pick this one up as well. It's her story of living as a man for 18 months. (Paperback Swap)

4. We'll Always Have Paris by Ray Bradbury - Here's a collection of his short stories that I found at this neat little used book store by our house yesterday. So I had to pick it up :) (Bought it)

5. A Good American by Alex George - This is the only point I get to give out this week! Nancy (the Bookfool) reviewed this one a little while ago and I just thought it sounded so good! Well she was sweet enough to send along her copy :) Can't wait to read it! Point to Nancy! (From a friend)

6. The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by F.G. Haghenbeck - Love Frida Kahlo, love this cover :) Sounds like a good one! (Review copy)

7 & 8. Maus 1 and Maus 2 by Art Spiegelman - Found these two at the used bookstore yesterday too! I can't believe that a. I haven't read these yet and b. I don't at least own them! But now I do own them and I can finally get around to reading them :) (Bought them)

I can't believe you haven't read the Maus books yet, either! ;-) They're perhaps the only graphic novels I've managed to read, and they're so excellent. Enjoy! - well, if enjoy is the right word for such subject matter, that is...

Oooh, I love Karen Hesse's Out of the Dust! Will likely have to pick this one up one day. And I've wanted to read Wishful Drinking ever since it came out--Carrie Fisher was on Diane Rehm discussing it then and it sounded really good. And I suspect I'll have to pick up Self Made Man one of these days too. And Ray Bradbury--well there's absolutely no way to go wrong there, is there?!! I adore Frida Kahlo, too. We got to go see an exhibition of some of her work at the Philadelphia Museum of Art a few years back--so awesome!!! And wow--I can't believe you haven't read Maus yet...and yeah, even more surprised you didn't own them. :P You're going to love them. Damn, my friend, but this was one great haul!!! :D

Those all sound interesting. Would you believe, I had a copy of Maus that I got dirt cheap and I never read it so it fell victim to one of my purges? It was *after* I got rid of it that I began reading gushy reviews.

Hope you enjoy A Good American!

Looks like a good haul. I have read Maus and the Carrie Fisher. They were both good, but then not exactly books to be held to the same standards. :) I have The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo, too.
