Bad Bloggers! In Which I Can Blame Only One (other than myself)

Four books came into my house this week, but I can only assign blame to one other person aside from myself. This isn't good guys. What this means is that A. I'm bringing in WAY more books than I'm actually reading and B. I can blame no one but myself for most of this :/ I'm supposed to at LEAST be able to say "but they MADE me do it!" Discipline, Chris...discipline. Anyway, here's what came into the house this week:

1. The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A. McKillip - This is the one that I can blame someone for! And I'm sure you all know that that person is Ana! She reviewed this one recently and I knew I had to have it...so I headed over to paperback swap and they had a copy available! Score! I've been meaning to read McKillip forever and still haven't managed to. I've read two of her short stories in two different anthologies and have absolutely loved both. She's one of those authors that I'm extremely intimidated by for some reason. Just have to jump in and try it! Point to Ana! (Paperback Swap)

2. Advent by James Treadwell - This one was sent to me for review and I don't even remember what it's about :/ But the cover is beautiful isn't it??? A good cover always sells me on a book :p Just hope the book lives up to it! (Review Copy)

3. The Tricky Part by Martin Moran - This is a memoir about a man who is a survivor of sexual abuse as a child. This is a topic that's close to my heart and I always enjoy finding stories of other people's journeys through healing. Don't know if "enjoy" is the right word, but I think you know what I mean! (Paperback swap)

4. Glass Soup by Jonathan Carroll - Yep, another Jonathan Carroll. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with his whole collection before too long. I'm just in love with this man. Sorry Matt :p (Paperback Swap).

Well the one good thing I noticed here is that I at least didn't buy any of these!! So at least my addiction hasn't hit my wallet this week :p What came into your house this week? And have you read any of these?

I'm so happy I already read The Forgotten Beasts of Eld, or else Ana's post would have made me run out to buy it! lol It was the book that introduced me to modern fantasy - I just loved it, and even though I read it over 20 years ago, I still remember parts of it. It was amazing and powerful and my introduction to how fantasy can resonate with someone. I already loved the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, but Forgotten Beasts of Eld made me cry and think of love. Ana's post reminded me that I should go back and reread it soon! I hope you really enjoy it, Chris :-)

Face it, love, discipline when it comes to book accumulation is just never going to happen for you. :) So just enjoy the hell out of the accumulating, grab onto those small victories like spending no money, and stop worrying about all the rest.

Love you!

I am glad to say I've read The Forgotten Beasts of Eld..twice! once eons ago and once not all that long ago.. (thanks to Debi) :o)

of all the obsessions we can all have buying books and reading isn't such a bad one. Although it means we have to learn to let them go or else build a house of books! lol

Okay, I have no idea what Glass Soup is about, but that image of the dog with the face on its belly is just soooo cool.

There is no such thing as too many books!

As long as you have walls you can put book cases on them. (get the tallest you can)

The decorating style these days is to have all your furniture in the middle of the room anyway. And as for furniture, all you really need is a comfortable chair, a small table for your tea cup, and a lamp. Alright, an SO might need a chair too.

What's that? Time for my meds? Sorry, gotta go.

Yes, Advent looks great! It definitely sent me off to look it up. :) Can't wait to see what you think.
