10:4 Check In, Nice Editors, & Accomplishing Things

I just realized that it's time for a 10:4 Challenge check in...actually, yesterday was check in time but I forgot. This month wasn't so good, but it wasn't so bad...I lost 2 more pounds! Could've been better, but hey, there's still 2 more months left and I'm less than 2 pounds away from successfully completing the challenge which is to lose 10 pounds in 4 months. Of course, I could be much more successful and probably could've lost all of the wait by now if I didn't do things like reward myself for losing 2 pounds by shoving a donut down my throat...but hey, old habits die hard...

I got an email yesterday from Edmund Schubert, the editor of Intergalactic Medicine Show, Orson Scott Card's online webzine of fantasy and science fiction! He wanted to thank me for the mention on my blog of the webzine and informed me that Tor will be publishing an IGMS Anthology soon! Very cool! He also pointed me in the direction of his blog which is great, and I think that many of you would really enjoy it. It's called Side-Show Freaks and features essays from many great sci-fi/fantasy authors as well as some great slices of life and IGMS news. Check it out.

Today has been a day of trying to get things accomplished. I went to get my oil changed at the Honda dealership which proved to be such a pain in the ass. It took 2 1/2 hours to get my oil changed...at least I brought The Time Traveler's wife with me, so I got some reading done. Gassed up the car, got some coffee, got a very much needed haircut, came home and applied for 4 more jobs. So I feel like I've at least accomplished something today. Sometimes I just feel like I'm wasting away with no job, but days like today help...I enjoy checking things off of a list. And now back to more reading!

wow, you are doing great in the weight loss department!.. I wonder how much more you'd be down if you give up those Latte's?! (did I hear you laughing? like: not gunna happen?! lol)

Yeah, I'm thinking that's a "not gunna happen" lol...I've tried going down to skim milk in the coffee, but that's just nasty!

It sounds like a very productive day! Congratulations on the 2 pounds--hey, that's an accomplishment! And I'm sure the job situation will sort itself out soon. The Time Traveler's Wife sounds really good. I've got it on my list now.

Thanks Robin! It was a fairly productive day..hopefully I can continue on this streak now...I'm really liking TTW more and more as I get deeper into it...glad to see it's on your list :)

Getting oil changed...one of my least favorite things to do. And yes, taking along a book is a MUST!

Good job with the challenge thus far, you're doing great.

Enjoy the days of freedom while you can as it won't be long until you look back longingly on this time! ;)

Carl, I'm thinking I'm going to start going to the 5-minute oil change places for now on and trying my luck...the dealerships are awful!

The challenge is working out well! Glad you sponsored that one...who knew that all I needed was a challenge to get me motivated ;)

Well done on the weight loss! I'm behind a bit, I think, haven't really checked in...will try and do that before I post tomorrow.

Yes, that's right, I will be posting on my blog tomorrow! Dial up isn't too bad at the moment, so I should be able to post more regularly now I'm settled (well..till I move again in a few weeks LOL). That is, when I'm not painting or putting down flooring...*sigh* Anyway, look out for some book porn (hopefully) and my thoughts on The Book Thief. :)

Quix, you can afford to be behind on the 10:4 after how well you did on the first month! And I say you need a little indulgence after that stressful move ;)

Yay for posting tomorrow!! Oh no! Moving again in a few weeks? That's dreadful...at least there's bookporn...we'll always have bookporn...

Congrats on the weight loss. Yeah, old habits do die hard. Coca-Cola is my downfall; I could drink nothing but Coke and be happy, if it didn't have so darn many calories. I got hooked on it when I discovered it settles my stomach during migraines (that and Mt. Dew - I alternate).

You'll get a job soon; I just know you will. Enjoy the reading time, while you can. :)

Hey Bookfool, Coke is one of my weaknesses too! I tried switching to diet and that lasted all of one sip...that's just nasty! You get nauseated too with migraines huh? I hate that!

I got a call for an interview today! Yay! We'll see how it goes...it's been a sort of sketchy process, not totally sure about this organization, but I'm going on the interview on Thursday...so we'll see...must've been your good vibes ;)

wow! I'll be thinking of you on Thursday when you go for the interview!! Good luck! I hope it's a good one!

Thanks Deslily :) I'm hoping it's a good one too! I'm hanging out with Kien and Abbercorn right now ;)

Hey Chris,

Yep, nausea is one of the "common" migraine symptoms - most people get that. Blecch is all I have to say. Caffeine is supposed to help migraines, too, so you know . . . gosh, hard to ditch. LOL The only diet soda that doesn't actually make me queasy is Tab (and it's kind of yucky). Have you got any anti-nausea medicine? I only use it when I'm desperate (because it does make me drowsy), but phenergan is very helpful and it's one of those drugs that's been around for a long time - not known for significant side effects.

Wahoo!! You'll do great at your interview. Go get 'em, tiger. :)

Bookfool, My doctor gave me promethazine for nausea associated with migraines but I've never tried it! Alot of good that's doing me huh? I usually just drink something carbonated and pray that I don't get sick....You know how that goes.
