In Memory of Nattie

Nattie passed away today after a short battle with stomach cancer. I wrote about her a few days ago. She was a fellow blogger and was hosting the Newbery challenge which I will be completing in memory of her. I didn't have much time to get to know Nattie, but what I knew of her was wonderful. She was a single mother of 2, strong in her faith, and loved by many people for so many reasons. She had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor that came across in her blog posts and always put a smile on my face. Even while in the hospital she was dictating posts to her mother and father. The world's a little smaller without her and I'll miss her from what I knew of her. May she rest in peace.

Oh, Chris. There are no words for this. I'm so sorry for her family, for the loss of your friend, for the separation we must endure, unwillingly, in this fallen world.

Plus, even though I've been terrible about leaving comments, both here and elsewhere, I AM reading your blog. It's just a terrible time crunch for me. Quickly, I liked what you said about making Blog Friends; somehow it is much easier to do so over the blogs than in real life. I suspect, as you said, that it is because there are little built up pretentions when one is writing. We are more honest with our feelings apparently, than at a (horror) dinner party. With similar "strangers."

Hey Bellezza, Good to hear from you. Trust me, I understand crunch times. Hope things are going ok for you. I know you've had one heck of a past couple of months, so hopefully things settle down soon. Still can't get over Nattie's passing. Feels so surreal and I hardly knew her except for a few blog posts. I feel for her family and children so much...

How sad :(

I didn't know Nattie, but I visited her blog a few times, and she did seem to be a wonderful person. I feel so bad for her children.

I am so very sorry to hear that. The death of blog friends is as an emotional experience as is the death of someone you've met over and over again. I went through that last year and will be doing a memorial post for that person on June 22nd this year. I definitely like the idea of joining and completing the newberry challenge in honor of her.

I know Quix...can't believe it!

You put it perfectly Carl...It sort of relates to what I wrote the the other day. I barely new Nattie...barely new her at all, but with blogs there's this feeling of knowing a person so well because we put so much of ourselves out there in our writing...so sad...
