A Toast To Mothers

I am what you could call a Momma's Boy. I always have been. I couldn't ask for a better mom than what I have. She's inspired me in everything that I've done and continues to do so every day. I've grown up in a single parent home. Dad was...and still is..an alcoholic. While me and my dad's relationship is ok now, it wasn't always there, and my mom compensated for that. I never felt that I was missing a parent because my mom served the purpose of two parents.

She's been everything that a mother is and more. She's been a mom, a friend, a mentor, a teacher, a shoulder to lean on, and a confidant. I really don't know where I'd be without her right now. How many moms let their 26 year old sons still live at home while they just won't stop going to school! And she's still telling me I can keep going if I want and go for my PhD! Mother's Day is meant as a celebration for wonderful mothers like my own and all of the wonderful mothers out there. I don't know where I'd be without my own, but it probably wouldn't be where I am today. I thank her for all she's given me and only hope that she can get as much joy in return as she has given me.

I also want to wish a happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful blogging Moms out there. I've met so many wonderful women over the past few months who's sons and daughters are lucky to have them as moms. So happy Mother's Day to Literacy-Chic (known you way before blog-land ;), Lisa Snellings-Clark, Jenclair, Bookfool, Colleen Gleason, Aichaku, Booklogged, Bellezza, Stephanie, Nattie, Deslily! Oh...and Carl's wife Mary! If I missed you, please don't take offense. It's only because I didn't know you were a mother. Please let me know if you are...I like to know as much as possible about my friends :) Enjoy your day ladies!

Such a sweet post! :) Happy Mother's day to your Mom (who sounds lovely, and clearly did a wonderful job!) and all the others mentioned! Mother's Day over here was back in March. I always get confused when Amazon.com start sending me Mother's Day reminder emails in May...!

Re. your Dad - I kind of know what that's like. My Mum did an awesome job too. :)

This post made my smile. Here mother's day was a week ago, so I hadn't realized today was mother's day in other parts of the world.

Your mom does sound wonderful, Chris. Happy Mother's day to all the moms out there!

gee, if the title "Momma Writes About Books" isn't a clue...

;)

My son, Anthony will turn 2 in August... I'll go post a picture of us over on my blog, and figure out some way to make it book-releated.

Ah! Marina!! I'm so sorry! Happy Mother's Day to you. I don't know how I forgot you. I guess that's why I put that disclaimer. I Hope that you had a great one :D

Hey, Chris, thanks a bunch! Sounds like your mom rocks!

And re: your dad and the sitch there: been there myself, my friend. My mom raised all four of us pretty much single-handedly.

Which is why I dedicated my latest book to her. :-)

You're welcome Quix :)

Colleen, It's amazing what moms can do huh? I think it's sweet that your mom's getting the dedication. Can't wait for the book!

Aichaku, I meant to tell you...you have the cutest kid in the world! I was looking at your art on your other blog and you really do a great job and your photography is great!

What a sweet post! Your mom sounds amazing, and it's apparent that she certainly did something right!! She's got herself a great son!

Thank you so much for the Mother's Day wishes! I spent most of it with a blinding headache, but at least I was well enough to oohhh and aahhh over the homemade cards and pictures. That's the nicest part of any day with my kiddies!!

Glad you had a good Mother's Day Steph, but sorry to hear about the headache :( Those suck...I hate them!

How sweet are you?! Your mama didn't raise no fool, to congratulate all us women on Mother's Day. Thank you for your kind words. You are just the kind of son any mother would be overjoyed to have, and just the kind of person I feel blessed to call friend. Even if it's only in Blogger Land.

(Your words about your mom being a single mom touch my heart. I was a single mom for several years before I remarried after the death of my first husband. I commend your mother's strength, and your own, because those days aren't easy. For anyone. Under any circumstances.)

Thank you for the kind words too Bellezza. From the little while I've known you I can tell that you do a wonderful job as a mother. Your son is very lucky to have you! Do you have any other kids?
