New Additions To The Black Hole

So I seem to have acquired some new stuff and all of it is excellent :D. The birthday festivities continued last night at the casino where I lost $65. Yeah, that wasn't too much fun. What was fun though was this Tickle Me Freud that Chris and Angela game me for my birthday in addition to a Freud finger puppet:Isn't that great?! You squeeze his foot and he laughs and shakes. I've just about worn out his batteries already.

Today, even more stuff came my way. I was greeted this morning with a package from the one and only Lisa Snellings-Clark. In it was a little red poppet and 2 rats. Now my other 2 poppets have a new friend, and there are two rats to pick on them. The first rat is an evil little devil rat with a gold tooth and the other is a limited edition, numbered Edgar Allan Poe rat with a raven on his shoulder standing on a book of Tales. How cool is that! Now I just need to get my hands on a Neil rat.

I went to Whole Foods today to get my mom a wisteria vine. I decided on a wisteria vine and a pound of coffee from PJ's (a New Orleans coffee shop I used to work at) for Mother's Day. While I was in the checkout line, I saw Tori Amos' new CD, American Doll Posse, so I decided to pick it up being the avid Tori fan that I am. It's good...not great, but good. This may be one of those that I have to give a few listens to and I may be calling it the best album ever in a month, who knows, but right now I'm not blown away. To me, Tori lost something in the last few years. I feel like the last great album she put out was Boys For Pele. I'll even give her Choirgirl Hotel. That was a good album...but nothing's blown me away since then. But there are a few really good tracks on this album and I'd recommend it for Tori fans out there.

Love Tori, will have to grab a copy of the new album.

Sounds like another good day! I need to get one of the Poe rats to keep my Neil Rat company.

Tickle Me Freud - LOL!

I really need to get "American Doll Pose". People have been telling me it's better than "The Beekeeper", which is good news. Not that I hated it, but I think it's my least favourite of her albums.

The last one that really impressed me was "Scarlet's Walk" (and I have this theory that it's the perfect album to be listened to while reading "American Gods"). I hope this one surprises me.

Awesome rats and poppet!

Quix, If you love her then you'll probably like the album...I'm happy with it. I love the Poe rat! It's even better than I thought it would be. And the Freud is just hilarious :P.

American Doll Posse is MUCH better than The Beekeeper. I didn't like that album at all. Just couldn't get into it. I did like Scarlet's Walk. You know, you're right...it would be great American Gods music. I love "Crave" off of that album. One of my favorite songs of hers.

Deslily, All in all it was a great birthday. The money was put to good use, entertainment that is, so I won't complain...ok, I'll complain a little...

Love the Tickle Me Freud, and lovelovelove the cutesy poppets.

I just got myself the "American Doll Pose" CD recently. Personally I prefer "Beekeeper" - but this new CD is still Tori Amos cool. Once, I find myself tapping my foot to the rhythm unconsciously.

I love the way she always sounds like she's channeling deep feminine energy with her music. And I dig the album cover -especially the Tori with the chicken.

Dark Orpheus, I love the cover too! It's great. I always love the covers of her albums. She does a great job with them. I just couldn't get in to Beekeeper. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I'll get back to it. I'm liking this album more and more though. It definitely grows on you.

I was wondering about her CD. I'll have to listen to it a few times on Rhapsody before I decide if I want to buy it or not. I've ended up really liking some of the songs on both Scarlett's Walk and The Beekeeper...some of the songs are among my favorites. I also really, really enjoy the To
Venus and Back and Choirgirl Hotel CD's...those have a special place because I saw both of those concerts and met her backstage both times. Little Earthquakes will still be my favorite, though. I was really afraid from the concept of this one that it would be another Strange Little Girls type album and I really didn't take to that one.

Carl, Strange Little Girls wasn't my favorite either. I enjoyed Scarlett's Walk. That one had quite a few good tracks on it. Little Earthquakes will of course always be my favorite tool. I've never met her before, but I know plenty of people who have and I've heard that she's an amazing person. This album's definitely growing on me and I already have a few favorites. I think you'd like it.
