Quick Update

Well, I got a response from my former high school saying that they are "really interested in setting up an interview" with me. Awesome! She thanked me "for my candor about my past" and said that she was looking forward to meeting me. So now I just need to fill out the 10 page application, fax my resume to her, and then set up my interview. Here we go!

Interesting note on the application. At least a page and a half of the application is dedicated to questions asking about if I am a child molester, pedophile, or sex offender. It's so sad that the world has come to a point in time where questions like this need to be asked in such detail on an application. I see this all the time at the psyc hospital I'm interning at and it really just pisses me off. It seems like this kind of behavior is just constantly escalating these days. When does it stop?

That's great!! I really enjoyed reading your thoughts about working at a Catholic school. I would like to do so myself someday--high school or university. And I know that someone at the university where I am now was doing a dissertation on faith practices and whether they help with rehabilitation and certain physical conditions. I find that kind of thing interesting, too!

As for your other concern, I would blame, in part, the bad press--and, admittedly, the faulty way that things were dealt with in certain dioceses--coming out of the recent priest scandals. They're covering their bases. But this is not a specifically Catholic phenomenon, as the news testifies daily.

Wanna know how bad things really are? One of the parishes requires parents to be "Ethics and Integrity Compliant" (including a criminal background check!) before they can sit in & observe their child's DAYCARE class! It caused real problems when they had a Dad's breakfast once. Now that's sad...

I'm looking forward to it if it happens! I'd really like to read that dissertation on faith practices and rehab. Sounds neat. I didn't want to open the priest scandal bag, but it was definitely in the back of my mind. I'm sure that has alot to do with it. I'll keep you posted!
