Christmas Time Is Here

At least in my neck of the woods it seems to be. Did anyone else start their Christmas shopping yet? I just happened to get my paycheck on the day after Thanksgiving and have now spent half of that paycheck already on gifts! But I'm almost done my shopping now! How cool is that...The only bad thing about being almost done already is that I know I'll keep buying until Christmas comes around. I love giving gifts, I always have. It's one of my favorite things about Christmas. There's nothing quite like the feeling of picking something special out for someone and sending it along to them.

The stores were a little crowded today and yesterday, but not near as bad as I thought. I waited in line for 40 minutes at Circuit City yesterday which was miserable, but that was the only bad line. I would've just left but they had Madden '08 for real cheap and my little brother wanted it for Christmas and I found someone else's gift there too, so I had to wait it out. Aside from that though, I really didn't wait in any lines. So now I'm completely finished shopping for Megan, my mom, my dad, my little brother, AND I'm already finished shopping for my secret santa for Nymeth's Blogger Christmas Exchange :)

Aside from Christmas shopping, life has been good. This little Thanksgiving break has been nice, though I've slacked on my book. Not too bad though. I'm 2000 words behind right now. I'm at about 38,000 words and should be at 40,000. I could catch up tonight, but honestly I'm just not feeling motivated enough to write. Instead, I'll continue to fry my brain with the South Park Christmas DVD that I bought at Target today ;) Me and my little brother have spent all night watching that and playing Kirby's Air Ride on the Gamecube....all while stuffing our faces with Krispy Kremes. No complaints here!

You've already shopped for your blogger! What a good Santa :D

I've done absolutely zero Christmas shopping so far :\ I like doing it early, but I have some essays to finish, so I've hardly had time to leave the house. I have to do it soon, though, and my blogger is my top priority, because I want to mail it out as soon as possible.

A South Park Christmas DVD and a Kirby game sound like wonderful ways to spend the night. Don't worry about your book - you are sure to catch up!

No Christmas shopping yet, but I'm beginning to watch all those homespun Lifetime and Hallmark movies with "Christmas" in their titles. So I'm all set. -C

wow, what a good guy are you braving going out christmas shopping right after thanksgiving!! I hope the rest of your shopping goes as well..and as quickly!

being far away, and having had things lost in the mail once too often, I get off easy and send money to my kids and I let my oldest son buy for my grandson. A few times I amazoned books to him but he has a number of books TBR right now so I don't want to send more. So i'll let them choose something that he asks for . Not being there I don't get to know their likes so much, so this works better.

Have a good last day off!!

I haven't bought any gifts yet. But I have been out shopping both Friday and Saturday. And I've definitely started listening to Christmas music. It's such an exciting time of year. Music and movies are two big ways I celebrate.

Nymeth, Yeah, I had to go out right away when I got mine ;) I had fun shopping! I've shopped earlier than this other years, so I actually felt like I was getting a late start! You should be able to get some cool gifts this year where you are. I would love to do some shopping in such a cool town.

Carole, I do the same thing around Christmas time! Whenever I see Christmas movies on TV I watch them. I love this time of the year. It's my favorite after Halloween.

Deslily, I don't know if I'm a good guy or if I'm just nuts, but it ended up working out good! I got lots of shopping done and got some good deals! Money's always a good gift, I've never heard anyone complain about that ;) I understand your worries about stuff getting lost in the mail. Especially around Christmas time...there's so much stuff in the mail!

Becky, You went out shopping Friday and Saturday and haven't bought any gifts?! Lol..I agree that this is an exciting time of year. Like I told Carole, I watch every Christmas movie I find on TV and I love Christmas music!

I start mine in August or September, hoping to be finished by the time the shopping craziness happens, but this year I'm nowhere close.

I had the perfect idea for my Secret Santa person, but I don't think it'll work out. :(

I've got a lot of my shopping done, but also have a loooong way to go. In fact, I don't think I've ever been quite this far behind before. But it will all get done, one way or another. I sooooo get what you said about finishing too early anyway...I am exactly the same way! I will keep buying right to the last minute, because I just love giving gifts! It's seriously one of my favorite things in the world!

I've got part of my secret blogger's gift, too. And ordered the other part, so I hope it comes very soon. I hate worrying that something won't arrive in time.

Anyway, I'm definitely "in the spirit" too. In fact, that's what I was going to post about tomorrow. Great minds and all, huh?

Enjoy the season!

Dewey, That's an early start! I've started once before in August, but that was a nightmare because I kept buying until Christmas eve :p I ended up spending a fortune that year! I'm sure you'll get all your shopping done in time, but I know it's a much better feeling to have it all done early! And I'm sorry to here that your secret santa gift isn't going to work out :( I hate that when you have the perfect gift picked out and it just doesn't happen. Knowing you though, you'll think of something else cool :)

Debi, Like you said, you'll get all your shopping done in time so don't worry too much about it.

I went out the day I got my Secret Santa and bought the gift! I had to buy it from a store, I'm way to antsy to wait for it to come in the mail. I would've worried to much it wouldn't have come in time, though of course it will.

Can't wait to read your "in the spirit" post ;) Sounds like all the bloggers are getting into the spirit! All us great minds ;) I can't wait until people start getting their secret santa gifts and posting about them!!

I haven't done any shopping either. With finances the way they are right now, I'm thinking the kids are going to be about it this year. They deserve a great Christmas, but everyone else is just going to have to understand.

I did my Christmas shopping yesterday and did serious damage to my bank account because smart me forgot that a cheque for my insurance was going to be coming out. oops! On the same day as my car payment. It was painful! I have a bit left, but I need to recover before I finish!

I've done a bit of Christmas shopping myself. Not nearly as much as you have, but enough to have me in the Christmas spirit.

Your little brother must love you to death! You guys should enjoy Madden 08, I'm really having a good time with it.

I was doing a little idea gathering for my secret santa person as well today and saw in Barnes and Noble that Orson Scott Card has a new Ender short story in hardback that has a Christmas theme...have you seen that? I thought of you immediately and new I had to tell you if you hadn't already snapped it up.

I'm having so much fun planning for Nymeth's secret santa thing!

We're full on in the spirit here. All the decorations went up off and on throughout the long weekend, a few presents have been wrapped, and we've watched several Christmas movies already. And the Christmas music has been on all weekend as well!

Stephanie, I'm sure they will understand! Everyone has those years. Besides, Christmas isn't really about giving gifts, it's about the whole season of the year. And if you really feel guilty you can always just make some cookies and send those off to people!

Deslily, Me too! I have a feeling I'm heading over the 50,000 word mark. I'm going to have to. I don't think I can tie everything up in just 7,000 more words. We'll see. It has to be done by Friday though...ah!

Kailana, Oh no! That's horrible! I've done that a few times before too and it sucks. It's a good thing you didn't overdraw on your account. I've done that once before too and it was not fun! At least your car note's paid and you got some shopping done ;)

Carl, I'm so tempted to give my little brother Madden 08 now just so we can play it :p The copy I bought him was the last copy in the store!

I read and reviewed War of Gifts the day it came out :p Whenever a new Orson Scott Card book comes out, all other reading goes on hold and I have to read it immediately. It was an amazing little book and I highly recommend it. You don't have to have read any of the other books to read that one. My review's on here somewhere. Should be towards the end of October.

Your house sounds like so much fun right now! Lights, movies, and music...can't beat that! I need to get some apple cider now...Williams Sonoma makes the best apple cider you'll ever taste. It's a bit pricey but it is WELL worth it.

i'm very impressed that you've done so much of your shopping already. the problem with me is, if i do it too early i want to give it to the person before christmas! :)

JP, I do the same thing! Almost every Christmas I end up telling Megan what half of her presents are before Christmas just because I can't wait for her to get them! It's pathetic, lol..
