Happy Readathon Day!!

GOOD MORNING READATHONERS!!!! I can't believe it but I actually woke up in time for the readathon today!!! I'm usually at least a half hour late to the game. I've come to love this event so much. The first official readathon that I participated in was the last one that Dewey hosted, though I unofficially participated in the two she did before that as well. These will always be very sentimental to me, but they mean so much to me too and they really are very very special days. The readathons always feel like "old book blogging days" to me if that makes any sense to anyone. And I'm not by any means saying that I hate book blogging now because I don't at all. I'm still here right! These just feel the way blogging felt to me 6 or 7 years ago. So thank you Heather and Andi for putting this together and doing it so perfectly and to everyone that's carried it on in her tradition. And to everyone else who's reading, hosting mini challenges, cheering, giving prizes and just having fun :)

I'm wearing my official readathon shirt today which I've worn every readathon since October 2008...yes, this shit is crazy :p

And now, introductory meme time!!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I'm reading from my cozy apartment in Mandeville, Louisiana! If I get tired I may switch it up and go out to the lakefront or something which is absolutely gorgeous this time of the year!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Hmmm...well I'm sort of winging it this year, so I don't really know...but I want to throw some horror in there. I'm starting by finishing the new Kate DiCamillo so after that I may read Carrie by Stephen King! That's one I'm looking forward to!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Lemon meringue pie! I made one last night and that shall be my breakfast right after I publish this post :)

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I hate this question :p There's not much to know really....I'm 32, moved to Mandeville a year ago after living in New Orleans my whole life because I wanted to get out of the city...I'm a counselor...and my biggest passions are reading, music and gardening. Oh and if anyone can throw a perfect boyfriend my way that would be much appreciated. kthxbai.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I don't plan on changing a thing really! I've lost count of how many of these I've participated in, but I think I pretty much have it down to an exact science now :p Basically, I read at my own pace. Take breaks when I need to. I don't force myself to update every hour...only when I want to. I have a good balance of reading/blogging/visiting blogs/stuffing my face. Just pace yourself and have a great time! That's what this is all about :) Oh! The one thing I did different today was wake up on time ;)

Have a great readathon today everyone!!! And WE LOVE YOU DEWEY!!!!!!!

I think it's awesome you've been doing the read-a-thon for three years! This is only my second read-a-thon and will be my first where I really devote all day to it :) I'm jealous you live somewhere it's warm enough to go outside! I might open the windows later, but only once it warms up a bit.

Chris, your enthusiasm is so joyful and strong I feel it over here in Illinois! Love your shirt, love that you're going to have pie, love that you have Kate on your list. She's one of my favorite authors! Have a good morning! xo

I don't think it's be readathon without that shirt making an appearance!

Hi Chris! I totally love you here, you know that! :) I still feel sad that I literally started blogging right around the time Dewey passed away. I just remember everyone dedicating that first year to her and how sad everyone was. I wish I would have known her!!! Thanks for being such a lasting friend and sharing her legacy with us all.

Well, I will be back to check in again. I'm so excited to dive in and do some reading today! :)
