Bad Blogger Time!

So this is a very TAME bad bloggers post compared to the usual...only SEVEN books! There are a few reasons for this. First of all, I'm trying to stick with the themed reading months that I'm doing with Debi, and in doing that I'm trying to read off of my own shelves this year! However, there are the occasional books that still pop up off my wishlist from Paperback Swap that I FINALLY get, so those end up on here. I also have a running list of books that I'm looking forward to that are marked on a calendar and I've given myself permission to get those when they're released this year. And then there are the occasional books that people talk about that I just have no willpower to pass up. One of those are mentioned below :p Anyway, here are the books that have come into the house with attached blame when appropriate!

1. Constance Harding's (Rather) Startling Year by Ceri Radford - Can I blame Shelf Awareness for a book? Yes...I think I can so I'm going to do that :p I learned of this book on Shelf Awareness and it sounded wonderfully fun so I went and ordered it. I may end up absolutely hating it by the end...I don't know. We'll see how it turns out. So far it's playing on the old trope of "dumb woman has no idea of what's going on around her and is completely clueless of her surroundings." And I guess that's supposed to be humorous though I don't find it so at all. We'll see if it gets any better...if it doesn't, I don't know if I'll even make it through the book. Point to Shelf Awareness! (Bought it)

2. The End of San Francisco by Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore - This is a review copy that was sent to me by the publisher after my author friend, Carole McDonnell introduced me to Mattilda. Mattilda is a really awesome genderqueer author who challenges how we look at gender and our conception of societal norms and this is a memoir written by him. I want to save this for me and Debi's LGBT month though I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long! (review copy)

3. McBroom's Ear by Sid Fleischmann - This was SUCH a fun little book. OMG I loved it so much. It's a short little picture book with more text than most and I just stumbled upon it on paperback swap one day and requested it. It's about a family who may just stretch the truth a little bit who have a farm that can grow anything that touches the soil instantly and grow it to huge proportions. But their crop is threatened when thousands of grasshoppers come swarming to eat it all up! Definitely one I'd recommend for any family with children or anyone with the heart of a child like me :) (Paperback Swap)

4. The Unwritten Vol. 7 by Mike Carey - I picked this one up today as it came out today!!!! It's one of those books that I was talking about that I'm allowing myself to buy as they come out this year :) I've been waiting for this one. I love this series SO MUCH!!! Can't wait to read this one...In fact, I'll probably read it tonight! (Bought it)

5. Otherwise Normal People by Aurelia C. Scott - I first heard about this one from Jeane and I'm so excited to get it now! Especially after reading The Care and Handling of Roses with Thorns which had a strong story line about competitive rose gardening. That's what this book is all about. The world of competitive rose gardening. I've been wanting it ever since Jeane reviewed it and my turn finally came up on Paperback Swap. Point to Jeane! (Paperback Swap)

6. The Man Who Was Thursday by GK Chesterton - This one is part of Penguin's Great Books for Boys series and I've been collection all of their imprints...so it was nice when this one popped up for me on paperback swap :) (Paperback Swap)

7. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell - Well Ms. Lu gets a GIANT point for this one. Yep, she sold me with a single tweet about the book today. After reading her tweet, I went and checked out the book on Amazon and then when I was picking up The Unwritten tonight at the bookstore I looked for this one too and I'm sorry but I'm just not going to be able to wait to read this one..I'm going to have to break my agreement to just read fairy tales and fantasy in April and sneak this one in too :p It just looks too. damn. good. A point to Ms. Lu! (Bought it)

you amaze me all the time with how many books you have! At least I don't get "blamed" for any this time LOL!

I have Eleanor and Park on my list. And I really need to get moving on the Unwritten books.

I feel like I have done something good with my life this week, sine my one tweet put this book in your hands. Chris, YOU WILL LOVE IT. This isn't a book a I would necessarily recommend to everyone - it's dark in a way that Attachments wasn't, but it's also wonderful and lovely and romantic and true. I just know that you are going to love it as much as I did. It meant a lot to me for a lot of personal reasons, but I also just think it's really beautifully done. I hope you like it!
