Another Bad Bad Bloggers

It's a rainy Lundi Gras down here in southern Louisiana which is the perfect weather to curl up with a blanket and a book to relax to, so I figured I'd do just that, but first I thought I'd get all these books that have been piling up in the virtual library onto the blog. Tomorrow's Mardi Gras and my plans are to do absolutely nothing. I didn't do much for Mardi Gras this year...I went to exactly one parade and it was one of the crappy day time parades. I'm not a big fan of Mardi Gras day...mostly because you have to be up at like six in the morning to get any kind of decent spot to see the parades and a parking spot and I am SO not a morning person. So tomorrow I just plan on relaxing. We're having a quiet night at the apartment tonight. I'm sitting here blogging and reading and Matt's putting together a Wizard of Oz puzzle. So here are the 23 books that have walked in the house since last bad bloggers post...keep in mind these include a order and an order from Barnes and Noble that was placed with a really good coupon :p

1. Wandering Son Volume 2 by Shimura Takako - I love this series SO much!!! And I can't wait to get my hands on volume three now. I STRONGLY suspect that it'll turn up in the next bad bloggers post. It's seriously an awesome series so far. I've already reviewed the first two volumes. (Bought it)

2. Jack of Fables Volume 1 by Bill Willingham - Thanks to Kelly's awesome post telling you how to read Fables and all of it's spinoffs, I knew that I could finally go ahead and pick of this one!! Seriously...If you want to read Fables, you need to bookmark that post like I have. In fact, I was going to tell you Kelly that you should update that post with all of the new books that he has published now :p Needless to say, Kelly gets a point for this one! (Bought it)

3. Fables Volume 7: Arabian Nights and Day by Bill Willingham - Because it's the next one I need! (Bought it)

4. The Red Garden by Alice Hoffman - I love me some Alice Hoffman, particularly her Green Witch/Green Angel books! If you haven't read those, I HIGHLY recommend them. So when Andi highly recommended this one, I knew I had to get it. Point to Miss Andi! (Paperback Swap)

5. The Still Point of the Turning World by Emily Rapp - This is a review copy that sounds like it may be a really good one! Looking forward to it. I really need to get to some of these ARCs....(Review Copy)

6. Locke & Key Volume 2 by Joe Hill - Still haven't read volume 1 but if the series is as good as Debi's told me it is, I figured I better have volume two on hand :p (Bought it)

7. Lives of the Trees by Diana Wells - As soon as the wonderful miss Beth Fish reviewed this one I knew that I had to get my little tree hugging hands on it! And bookcloseouts had it for super cheap! Score!! It's every bit as lovely as she described it too. Can't wait to read this one :) Point to Beth! (Bought it)

8. Twin Cities by Carol Muske-Dukes - In my continuing quest to collect all things Penguin, I found some great deals on bookcloseouts on a few Penguin Poets books. I've always loved poetry but over the last few years I've seemed to rediscover my love it a bit more. And I love the way that Penguin presents it's volumes of poetry. (Bought it)

9. Manatee/Humanity by Anne Waldman - Another Penguin Poets that I found on bookcloseouts! (Bought it)

10. Same Difference by Derek Kirk Kim - Darren over at Bart's Bookshelf recently reviewed this one and if I recall right he wasn't completely crazy about it...but as Darren often does, even with books he doesn't love, he can still add them to my wishlist :p Point to Darren! (Bought it)

11. Making an Exit by Sarah Murray - The always fabulous Jill over at Fizzy Thoughts read this one and I was intrigued immediately! So onto the wishlist it went and then I found it on paperbackswap! Hooray! Point to Jill! (Paperback Swap)

12. Sickness Unto Death by Soren Kierkegaard - This is one of Penguin's Great Ideas books which I'm totally loving. The design of this series of books is completely impressive. I love just holding them. I get so excited whenever I find one on bookcloseouts or whenever my turn comes up on paperback swap to get one! Got this one from bookcloseouts. (Bought it)

13. Pie by Ken Haedrich - I bet NO ONE can guess who's responsible for this one right? :p Of course, the pie queen herself, Care is 100% responsible for this amazing looking mammoth of a cookbook that I cannot WAIT to dig into. Seriously, this is a thing of a beauty. I don't have much experience at all making pies. In fact, I can only think of one pie that I've ever made from scratch and that was a delicious pie from the One Girl Cookies cookbook called a "milk pie" that was AMAZING. But I'm most definitely looking forward to working my way through this! One giant point to Care :) (Bought it)

14. Beyond Katrina by Natasha Trethewey - I've come to love Natasha Trethewey SO much. She's such an amazing poet and this collection looks like it mixes poetry with essays. Looking forward to reading this one. (Paperback Swap)

15. Money by Martin Amis - Part of the Penguin Ink series for the Penguin collection! (Bought it)

16. The Camera My Mother Gave Me by Susanna Kaysen - Jeane recently reviewed this one and it just sounded so damn good! It's from the author of Girl, Interrupted which I've sadly never read, but I did love the movie. It was another one of those books where I read the review and had to have it right away. Luckily Paperback Swap had it so I saved some money :p Point to Jeane!  (Paperback Swap)

17. May Day by Phillis Levin - Penguin Poets edition that I scored from Paperback Swap! (Paperback Swap)

18. Fire Season by Philip Connors - I won this one from Care and it sounds really freaking good! Can't wait to read it :) And even though she's the one who gave it to me, she still has to take a point for it :p Point to Care! (Gift From a Friend)

19. In the Heart of the Amazon Forest by Henry Walter Bates - This is a volume from Penguin's awesome Great Journeys series! It's another series that's beautifully designed and takes you on trips all over the world. Excited to get this one! (Bought it)

20. The Bird King: An Artist's Notebook by Shaun Tan - You all need to go get this book now! Especially if you're a Shaun Tan fan!!! I really really loved this one. Gorgeous book from the gorgeous mind of an awesome illustrator/artist/story teller. (Bought it)

21. How To Achieve True Greatness by Baldesar Castiglione - Another Penguin Great Ideas book that I got for super cheap! (Bought it)

22. The Evils of Revolution by Edmund Blake - Yet another Penguin Great Ideas book! (Bought it)

23. Absentia by William Stobb - And finally, yet another Penguin Poets book :p (Paperback Swap)

Holy crap, my dear, that's A LOT of books! :)

Both Annie and I seemed to like Same Difference more than Darren did, so maybe you will too. It's not one of those reads that will change your life or anything, but it is just plain super fun!

What an amazing group of books. Really. And Ha!!!! Glad to have been responsible for one them.

I'm glad you're getting on the Fables bandwagon. I haven't been sorry that Kelly, Heather, Vasilly, and others talked me into that series.

Fire Season is awesome! I know I featured it on my blog but I don't remember if I wrote a review. Anyway, you'll love it.

And now I've added several of these to *my* wish list: especially Making an Exit, which I also learned about from Jill but forgot about it.

Debs, I know it's bad :p Glad that y'all enjoyed it a bit more!! I suspect it'll come up for me sometime this month!

Beth, I've been on the Fables bandwagon for awhile now I just fell off of it, lol. Happy to jump back on though! Isn't it a fantastic series? I have a bunch on my wishlist because of you just haven't gotten to them all yet, lol.

Mama, Love you too :)

WOOHOOOOO!!!! Point to ME! That's what I'm talkin' about. Now I hope you love it as much as I did.

And I have a copy of Making An Exit. I need to read Jill's review and get back on it.

I actually did update my post. :) Just last week! I want to tweak it a bit more, though, because there is going to be a crossover with The Unwritten...
