Time For Long Awaited Reads Month!!

Yay :D I am so excited about Ana and Iris' Long Awaited Reads Month!!!! In fact, I wish it were more than a month long because as you're about to see, I have much more than a month of reading material prepared for this :p I haven't been this excited about a reading event since Carl's Once Upon a Time and RIP Challenges which are my favorites. Without further ado, here's everything on my list:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon - Debi's been wanting me to read this one FOREVER and so have I :p

Voice of Our Shadow by Jonathan Carroll - The first Carroll I ever bought and I bought it because of Ana...you'll see soon that many of these books on the stack are because of Ana :p

Little Boy Lost by Marghanita Laski - The Persephone I've been wanting to read most. I'm determined to FINALLY read my first Persephone during this month.

The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King - Been wanting to read this series ever since Pat read and fell in love with it.

Come Closer by Sara Gran - Another one that's Ana's fault

Beloved by Toni Morrison - And yet another one that's Ana's fault...and another one that I've been wanting to read forever.

Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne - I've been wanting to read this since I was like five.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Another Ana fault.

The Secret Fruit of Peter Paddington by Brian Francis - This one went on my list because of Joanne from Book Zombie, a blogger I desperately miss!! And I've been wanting to read it forever.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - One of Trish's favorite books and I'm pretty sure it'll become one of mine too. Just have to read it :p

Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn - Don't even know who's fault this one is but I've been wanting to read it forever.

The 10 P.M. Question by Kate De Goldi - Yep, another Ana fault :p

One For Sorrow by Christopher Barzak - This has been on my TBR pile for SO LONG!!! So excited to finally get to it.

Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine - A mix of Ana and Debi's fault.

Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster - Ana's fault

An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks - Rich's fault!! And finally my first Oliver Sacks! I own pretty much all of his books but haven't read a single one yet. Sad..so this will be the time to finally read one!

Pedro Paramo by Juan Rulfo - Sigh, Ana's fault...feeling guilty yet, Ana? :p

Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf - Another one that I've just wanted to read for SO long.

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein - This one hasn't been out all that long but it still feels like I've waited far too long to read it.

Saplings by Noel Streatfeild - Another Persephone. Ana actually gave me this one for Christmas a few Christmas' ago and I've been dying to read it ever since!

We the Animals by Justin Torres - I heard an interview with Justin Torres on the Diane Rehm show about a year ago and went out and got this and it's been on my TBR ever since. Time to read it!!

Think I have enough? In addition to all this, I'll be starting WAR AND PEACE finally!!!! It's been a goal of mine to read that book for years now and the sweet amazing beautiful Amy is hosting a readalong of it this year!! Come join us!

Saplings is wonderful, as is The Beekeeper's Apprentice and Daddy Long Legs. Good luck with your Reading Month thing.

I think the Ella Minnow Pea might have been Ana too? She recommended it to me last year and have had it on my shelves since then.

Your list is so interesting! And so many books that I wish to read as well. You've just made my list for this month a lot longer.

And I'm so happy to see your joining Amy and me for War & Peace as well.

Wow--we have a quite a few of the same books on our piles! Yep, because of that rascally Ana! :P I'm so excited to get started on this. So sad that I haven't yet, mostly because my reading time is being sucked up by reading for school. I might just have to say "to hell with school" if I don't find some fun reading time soon. :)

oh my! well I sure hope if you read The Beekeepers Apprentice that you enjoy it! It did make me go on and read the entire series of "Mary Russell" books but of course it's not an absolute "must" !

I hope you have a great year of enjoyable reads!!!

I don't know, I think you need to add a few more there. This challenge lasts all year, right? ;)

Winnie the Pooh is such a wonderful book. Funny in ways I would not have gotten as a child and charming from the first page to the last.

I think you'll enjoy Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I know I did. The film was fine but for obvious film reasons an entire half of the story was left out.

LOL! Here I was trying to limit my list for just one month, and you have this amazing list, Chris! lol I haven't heard of some of these, and I'm trying not to look into the War and Peace read along, especially as I am reading Les Miserables ever so slowly right now :-)

Awesome list, Chris. It always feels good when you get two or three - or in your case, 10!!! - books you've been wanting to read forever, off the tbr list, doesn't it? Have fun reading them - maybe Carl has the right idea, and this should be a year-long challenge :-)

Oh my God, Chris! You have some FANTASTIC reads in this pile! Beloved is one of my favorite books ever. It's so haunting. Anna and the French Kiss is a book you can start and finish in one sitting. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is another haunting, fantastic, creative read. We the Animals is a book you can easily finish in an hour. It's short but you'll end up thinking about the characters after you turn the last page. Happy reading.

That's quite a pile! I've read exactly two of those and loved them both: Ella Minnow Pea and Daddy Long-Legs (eons ago, I borrowed my sister's copy -- as in elementary school). Saplings is on my shelf. Need to get to that. And, I really need to get a copy of Last Chance to See. It's an older title, now, but I'm sure it's even more relevant, today. Fun stuff.

Have fun with your challenge!

PS I read Daddy Long-Legs years ago, and loved it. Did not like Mrs Dalloway, am probably the only person who doesn't like the book.

Oh no, a readathon of War and Peace! a book I've been meaning to read FOREVER - for over 30 years!!! gosh...
