Bad Bloggers Gone Really Bad...

Ok, so it's not as bad as it's ever been, but it's pretty bad. This is what happens when I let it go too long in between posts. I end up with 17 books to post about. So without further ado, here are the books in question:

1. A Mere Interlude by Thomas Hardy - This is one of the books in Penguin's Great Loves series and they all sounds so fantastic!! I want to get them all!! (Paperback Swap)

2. The Garden of Reading edited by Michele B. Slung - I was gifted this AMAZING little book of short stories by my dear friend Debi and amazing it is :) I've only read the first three stories so far, but they're all about gardening or center around gardens. (Gift from a friend)

3. NOS4A2 by Joe Hill - I was SO FREAKING EXCITED to get an ARC of this!! Hill's new book comes out in a few months and it sounds perfectly sick and twisted like the rest of his books. What I know about it is that it's a sick book that takes kids to "christmasland" where everything looks perfectly happy but darkness is underlying. I have to mention that this came with a wonderful disturbing Christmas card and a very angry looking gingerbread man car scent thingie!! (Review Copy)

4. Interventions by Richard Russo - Now we're getting into Christmas gifts! The first time I ever saw this book, I wanted it immediately. It's a gorgeous little box set with three tiny novellas and short stories in it. I've never read anything by Russo before, but looking forward to it! (Gift from mom)

5. The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum - This isn't just the Wizard of Oz, this is the PENGUIN THREADS version of The Wizard of Oz :D I absolutely love the Penguin Threads collection and this is certainly no exception. It's gorgeous!! (Gift from mom)

6. Fix it and Forget it by Phyllis Good - This is a neat little book....it's a collection of 5 ingredient crockpot recipes. It' has some truly nasty sounding stuff, but it has some good sounding recipes too! I'll definitely try some of these :) (Gift from mom)

7. The Evil Garden by Edward Gorey - OMG this book as so damn good and perfectly Gorey :D My dear friend Heather gave this to me and I finished it up in one little gulp :) (Gift from a friend)

8. Melusine by Sarah Monette - Look Memory!! I finally got it!! And I can't wait to read it!! Point to Memory. (Paperback Swap)

9. Where I lived and What I Lived For by Henry David Thoreau - One of Penguin's Great Ideas books!! And I absolutely love it!!! They design these books so awesome. There are so many of them but I truly want them all :p (Paperback Swap)

 10. The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle - I've been wanting to read this one ever since Becky reviewed it and found a Penguin Ink edition on Paperback Swap!!! So yay for me. Point to Becky! (Paperback Swap)

11. Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry - Found this gorgeous new edition of this book at Sams the other day. Almost bought all four, but just got this one as I'm LONG over due to read the second in this series. (Bought it)

12. Forbidden Fruit: From the Letters of Abelard and Heloise - Another one of Penguin's Great Loves series..this series just sounds so awesome..can't wait to dive in :) (Bought it)

13. The Shining by Stephen King - SO EXCITED about this one!!!! Jill is completely 100% to blame for this one as she is hosting the Shinealong in February. If you haven't sold your soul to this one, you totally should. I'm extra excited because King is releasing a SEQUEL to The Shining later this year!! Point to Jill! (Bought it)

14. Silas Marner by George Elliot - Well this is a book that I never thought I would buy :p But in collecting all of the different cool Penguin editions I stumbled upon their "red classics" which is a collection where they donate a portion of the proceeds to benefit AIDS research. And I found this one on sale...which I guess isn't really a good thing because that means less money going to AIDS reasearch, but hey, I have a Penguin red classic now! (Bought it)

15. Chu's Day by Neil Gaiman - It's the first of the many Gaiman releases this year!!!! So excited :D And this one just absolutely exceeded my expectations :D It's a children's book for very young children, but I assure you that anyone can enjoy it. You can read my review here. (Bought it)

 16. The Men on My Couch by Dr. Brandy Engler - I love a good collection of therapists telling their stories of therapy. As a counselor, it lets me know I'm not alone in my feelings of doubting myself and feeling like I'm failing my clients sometimes and it also lets me discover new ways to help my clients. This book is about a female therapist who opened up a sex therapy practice and surprisingly had an influx of male clients. She tells the tales heard on her couch, changing names of course...loving it so far. (Bought it as an impulse buy)

17. The Blind Contessa's New Machine by Carey Wallace - Ever pick up a book just because you love the cover so much? I know we all do. Well that was the case of this book. I found it on Paperback Swap and it sounded just so good on top of that cover. It's a fictional tale based on the reality of the invention of the typewriter. Can't wait to read it!! (Paperback Swap)

Have you read any of these? Any that you think will be favorite reads of mine? I'm looking forward to them all!

You know, seventeen really isn't that bad, considering many were gifts, right? #noenablinggoingonhere

Oh fun! I haven't read any of these (although I'm totally w you on the cover of that Wallace), but I have read the letters of Heloise & Abelard. I warn you they don't come across as part of an epic love story, at least not to me. ;)

I am so jealous that you received an ARC of Joe Hill's newest. I cannot wait for its publication date, and it is at the top of my list for RIP this year. Enjoy!

It could always be worse, Chris. It wasn't *that* bad. :)

I'm looking forward to snagging a copy of the Gaiman/Rex book. The art is fabulous and its Gaiman, so a no-brainer really.

I've read Melusine (have to read the sequel now) and really enjoyed it, I think you will too. I read the Letters of Heloise and Abelard many years ago and want to reread them, so thanks for the reminder of this edition! As Eva says, it's not quite the love story you might be picturing, but it is powerful and it moved me to tears anyway. I just got Silas Marner too!!!!

And what a neat cover for The Shining! I am going to sign up for the read-athon, I think.

I really want the Garden of Reading, and the Evil Garden! I love Edward Gorey!

Oh, enjoy all your books Chris!
