This Should Be A Book Review

Or maybe this should be several book reviews. But sadly it's not. I just have not had the energy? drive? motivation? brains? Nope...none of those things that I need to write a proper book review lately. Which really isn't good for me because the longer I go from the time I read a book, the more I forget about it which normally means the worse the review is or I just end up not reviewing the book :( And I have a lot of really GOOD books that I've read lately and I want to tell you all about them. I think I may just have to suck it up and do a post of mini reviews even though most of these really deserve full thorough reviews. Here are the books that I have to tell you about still:

• Gandhi: A Manga Biography by Kazuki Ebine
• Macbeth by William Shakespeare (Really don't know if I should even review this one as most know the story and I'm not entirely sure my brain absorbed any of it as I read it during the readathon.)
• The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan
• Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

And then there are all of the good books I'm reading right now that I want to talk about!! But I figure I should probably finish them first before I talk about them :p I've started Tell the Wolves I'm Home on the recommendation of a friend from work and after just 40 pages, I am SO in love with this book. It has some of the best lines in it I've read in a long time and sometimes I feel like the author has just jumped into my brain with the way her character views the world. It's quite a beauty of a book so far, both literally and in it's content. Literally in that it's probably my favorite cover I've seen on a book in years!

I'm listening to Spook by Mary Roach on audio after finishing Stiff on audio. I REALLY enjoyed Stiff! Like I said...I'll try to review that one soon. I first read Mary Roach because of Dewey after she reviewed Bonk, Mary Roach's book on sex. I knew I had found one of my new favorite science writers after reading that book. And Stiff just confirmed that. Mary Roach is truly a gem when it comes to science journalism. I wish I liked the narrator of Spook more than I do...but I'm only on chapter two so maybe I'll get used to her. I feel like she just doesn't get Mary Roach's writing voice as well as the narrator for Stiff did. But still, it sounds like good stuff! Speaking of Mary Roach, I found out on Amazon that she has a new book coming out next year! And so does Michael Pollan! And just in case you've been living under a rock, Neil Gaiman does too! Any other preorders I should know about that I don't guys??

And then there's this beauty that I've started tonight. This may be my new bible guys. It's a giant of a book that contains 100 Ray Bradbury stories and me and Debi are going to spend the next year reading it and talking about it over email and maybe post about it every now and then! We'll see how it goes :) But I am SO excited to be spending the next year with one of my very favorite authors and one of my very favorite friends :) I finished the first story, "The Whole Town's Sleeping", tonight, and if the rest of the stories are half as good as that one, I'm in for one hell of a year of damn good short stories. It was perfect for this night of gorgeous fall weather that we're having here in Southern Louisiana.

And now I think I'll go back to continue listening to this amazing new album I've discovered and read some more of Tell the Wolves I'm Home. The album is Anais Mitchell's Young Man In America and it's the first album of Mitchell's I've ever downloaded and wow I wish I've been listening to her for longer...she's amazing and her voice is so unique and beautiful. Anyway...off I go to listen and read...hope you all have a fantastic and wonderful weekend!
