There are certain weekends that are better than others and this is one of those weekends that is ESPECIALLY appreciated. I feel like I say this every Sunday, but this may have been the worst week every at work. Being the evening supervisor of admissions at my job, I become boss when my boss goes on vacation and she's been on vacation all week. And on top of that, it's been one of the busiest weeks the hospital has ever had when it comes to admissions. So I am SO happy it's the weekend. And it's not just a weekend, but it's a THREE day weekend!!
Today was a good day aside from one little thing that I won't even get into because I don't feel like stressing over it. But the good things: Started the day by going to get coffee with my Matt, then drove to the south shore to get a very much needed massage. And while I was waited for said massage, I started The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan and after just 20 pages, I think I'm in love already! This one is going to be good y'all! After the massage, I went by my mom's house and we went to Sam's with my sister and brother and I stocked up on bulk items we needed here at the apartment, then went back to my mom's and barbequed and watched the LSU game. It's been a long time since I got to spend a day with my family and it was just a really great day :)
Tomorrow will be the chill day of the weekend. I have to clean the apartment, and I plan on doing some baking, but aside from that, I plan on just sort of relaxing, getting some stuff done around the house and playing catch up with some online stuff that has to be done! And then Monday will be an AWESOME day for me and Matt :D We're going to see Fiona Apple Monday night at the House of Blues, so we're going to make a day out of it and spend the day in Uptown New Orleans. It'll be a challenge though because money is REALLY tight for some reason this month, so we'll have to have fun on a really really tight budget :p
I'm hating money right now....Remember when I was doing my monthly reports on how GOOD I was doing at eliminating my debt? Yeah...not so good anymore. I now have more debt than I've ever had. But I'm getting back on track now at getting it under control again. I have at least stuck to my envelope system of budgeting my money and that has been a life saver. But it's just too easy to put things on the credit card here and there when it's "needed". Me and Matt are making things work really well, but damn, real life is expensive. But I'm getting myself back on track...getting back to a point where I'm not going into a near panic attack every day about money...at least I'm going to try to.
So books! And Bad Blogger points! Can you believe that only TWO books came into the house this week? And I didn't even send for any of them :p One was a review copy and one was a gift from a friend. Here are the two that came in:
1. When I Knew edited by Robert Trachtenberg - My dear friend Debi sent me this book and she's so getting a point for it!! Yep, even though I hadn't even heard of the book before she sent it to me, she's getting a point :p Because it's her fault that I'm reading it and loving it! I can't wait to review this one. Almost finished it. It's a collection of very short real life stories (sometimes one sentence) accompanied with pictures of men and women telling of when they "knew" they were gay. I'm enjoying this one so much and there's so much that I can relate to in here. Can't thank Debi enough for this unexpected treat :) So a point to Debs! (Gift from a friend)
2. Buddy: How a Rooster Made Me a Family Man by Brian McGrory - Ok, I lied a little bit. I actually DID request this book to review :p I saw this one on Shelf Awareness the other day and it sounded really good. I love animal and human relationship memoirs. Enslaved by Ducks by Bob Tarte comes to mind when I think of this one. That was a really great one. Anyway, looking forward to this one! (Review copy)

Have an AMAZING day off, Chris! I know exactly what you mean about hating money... blech.
Chris, it sounds like you have a wonderful couple of days ahead of you. Enjoy! As for money - hey, we all have panic moments. At least you are trying to get it under control (the money), and that's something.
I love how books find their way in to our homes, don't you?
Holy cow. I hear you about money. I'm sure it's tricky too when you have to share and figure out money with a partner? I haven't had to do that in a long time, so I don't really have any idea anymore. :) Have a great three day weekend though! I'm a bit jealous... :)
I hear you on the money thing! We've had a very expensive week and I can't wait for it to be payday again!
I hope you enjoyed the Margo Lanagan. Such a fantastic book!
