So I was going to write a book review today and then I just got pissed. I swear...sometimes I think there are evil forces at work in this universe trying to send me signs :/ Remember how I just a week ago posted about how GOOD I've been doing with my finances??? And how I saved up that $1000 emergency fund?? Well goodbye emergency fund. I guess I can say that I'm glad I had it right? I guess I can look at the glass as half full.

My car battery died on me on Saturday. No big deal. I had my mom jump me, drove my car to Sears, transferred $100 from my emergency fund to pay for it and actually smiled because I had that money there to pay for it! Figured I can just put it back next paycheck.

Well I don't know if I ranted about this or not, but my doctor has decided to do another MRI on me to see if there's anything there that could be causing my migraines. I like my doctor...I really do. I like him as a PERSON. But not so sure he's still the right doctor for me because he won't try anything other than pills pills pills. And now an expensive MRI which I've had 7 years ago. Well this is the year that I decided to go up to the $1000 deductible plan to save money on my health insurance as far as the monthly costs! You see where this is going....I got a call today from the MRI people saying that I need to be prepared to pay $775 tomorrow for my MRI because I haven't met my deductible yet. And then of course, I have to see my doctor in 2 weeks for a follow up which will be ANOTHER $100 after which I should have finally met my deductible for the year at least. :/ So that $1000 I was so proud of myself for saving? GONE!

SO!! I'm selling off more of my beloved books. And I thought I'd mention them once again to you guys first. And if you want to spread the word, that would be great too! I'm listing a whole lot of first editions, hardcovers, rare books, etc. and I'm starting every auction at 99 cents. No reserves or anything. I've listed thirty books tonight and I'm just tired. I have about thirty more and I'd say the best is yet to come :p I'll be posting those tomorrow night...so check in for some deals over the next few days that beat even bookcloseouts prices ;) I swear I am not begging for money guys....I'm not asking you all to bid on these, just figured some of you may want them and didn't want to let the opportunity pass for them to be in a good home :)

It's a pain when something happens to wipe out your emergency fund. I had mine earlier this year but now it is pretty much gone. You have saved it once though, so you can do it again!

Hope they find out what is causing your headaches. It will be money well spent then.

Awww Chris you poor thing :( I'm glad you're keeping a positive attitude about the deductible though, I guess it's better to get it done and over with at the beginning of the year :D Stay strong <3

ok well it seems I lost my comment... sigh..

sorry you are going thru this.. I had always heard you want at least 3 months worth of bills saved in an account (but since it's even harder to find a job now maybe even more).. anyway... I hope they discover some way of helping the migraines..more than likely he's making sure that nothing else is forming to cause the headaches.. and expensive way to find out you are ok but there's no telling and this IS the only way to "be sure"... I hope you make all the money back quickly!!..

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through all this. Having myself gone through 11 years of pointless medical tests only to find out all my symptoms were caused by a hidden tooth infection, I know just how frustrating it can be to spend money on stuff that likely won't help anyway. I hope the MRI doesn't show anything, Chris. As much as I'd love you to know the cause of your migraines, I don't want you to find out because of an MRI. Those causes would be too scary. And I do hope your doctor (this one or any other) will find the cause soon.

PS - I could rant about health insurance and high deductibles, but you know all that already.

I'm sorry your savings got eaten, Mr. Chris.

Having just spent several hundred dollars on a house that we're not even buying (on inspections, etc.), I can relate to the idea of feeling like you're just throwing your money away. :( But I am glad you had the money saved to use for it--otherwise you'd have put it on a credit card and ended up paying even more with all the interest. Still, I realize this doesn't make it any easier. :( But even more than hoping you have your emergency fund built back up again soon, I'm hoping that you'll finally get some answers about your migraines. Some relief for them. God, I wish that so fucking much. *hugs hugs hugs*

i know how that feels- every time i manage to save some, an emergency comes up and eats it all. i'm always real glad it was there, but dismayed to have to start all over again with the savings.

Well, bummer. That sucks. I think I would actually say no to a second MRI, but I'm kind of a troublesome patient. I still think you should try to find someone who can do the kind of physical therapy I get. It has really helped me.

I'm so sorry, Chris!! That must have sucked. I have my own savings fund, and I can't imagine having it ALL go away just like that. I'm going to check out your books now...maybe I can do something.

What a pain... I hope you can grow your fund again quickly and the days turn better soon too. Thinking of you.
