Random Thoughts

I was wondering if anyone is having any problems with my blog, first of all. Deslily brought it to my attention that when she tries to comment on my blog, it freezes up...is this happening with anyone else? It may be that I need to switch themes...don't really know. But if you're having problems and can't comment, let me know via email or twitter please!!

I finished John Green's An Abundance of Katherines a couple of days ago and I can't for the life of me review it because I started The Fault in Our Stars immediately after and WOW this book blows it away. I think this book even blows Looking for Alaska away! It's seriously incredible. So many beautiful quotes in that book. I really DO want to talk about Katherines, but unfortunately, I just can't seem to even get any thoughts together about it. Except that it was good. Maybe down the road...

I'm also reading The Power of the Poppy by Kenaz Filan right now, which is super good so far. I've always been in love with poppies for as long as I can remember. I think they're some of the absolute most gorgeous flowers and the history both medically and socially behind them is pretty damn awesome. So I'm enjoying this one and looking forward to telling you all about it!

I've wanted to grow poppies forever, but they don't ever seem to want to grow for me :( One of my most vivid memories of my last trip to see Debi was when we went to this little farm that has putt putt and stuff for kids and they had a wildflower garden there with tons of gorgeous poppies mixed in :) This was probably the best shot I got of them:
I'm going to try to grow them again this year...I bought a whole bunch of wildflower seeds AND a whole bunch of poppy seeds to go with the veggies this year. So excited that gardening season is coming up again!! Though sad at the same time that our winter seems to be over already :/ It's downright WARM down here. But I have all of my vegetable seedlings started :) Growing more than ever this year! And if I can ever get a house....well just imagine how big the garden will be if I can dig up the whole yard :p

Anyone else reading anything good? Starting any gardening plans?

Your blog is working fine for me. I am so jealous of all these people that are reading A Fault in our Stars. I have't received my copy yet. :(

Your blog is working fine for me too. I'm sorry some people are having trouble.

I wish I liked John Green's books. I really like him as a person, but just haven't never been able to get into his writing. :/

I have trouble growing poppies, too but I agree they are stunning and cool flowers.

Just have to smile at the image of you digging up your *entire* yard for a garden. And I've no doubt you really will! :D

Your blog seems to be working just fine for me. Sorry that Pat's having so much trouble with it. :(

And yeah...The Fault in Our Stars...*sigh*...so good...

I'm not having any problems commenting. Making lots of garden plans here, but our spring-feeling weather just broke: supposed to snow tonight! so glad I didn't get too ahead of myself. I never thought of growing poppies until I saw a purple variety in a gardening catalog just this week- that makes fat seedheads you can use the poppyseeds for cooking with! I do love poppyseed muffins and cake... maybe I'll grow some next year!

Seems to be working for most except Pat :( Might go ahead and change the layout and see if that helps! You'll have a treat waiting for you when you get A Fault in Our Stars :)

Hopefully this is the year that I master the poppy growing!

:p You KNOW I will dig up the whole damn yard, lol. I'm gonna see what I can do to fix it for Pat! Maybe I'll find another theme I like that'll work. And yeah...The Fault in Our Stars...

Here it's like we skipped winter AND spring and went right into the beginning of Summer :/ I went outside today and my Lemon tree is putting out new blooms and my pomegranate tree is already springing back to life after barely being bare of leaves!! Crazy weather this year! Let me know if you grow some poppies :D Maybe we can trade methods and help each other in growing them!

Poppies always bring back good memories from when I was little. For a "sad" reason, but still make me nostalgic (Remembrance Day in Canada).

PS--Scott is currently in the garage building our square foot gardening box! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
