Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull

fbhvnFablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull 535 Pages 2009 4.5/5 Anyone who's read this blog for long will know that I'm a big fan of Brandon Mull's Fablehaven series. They've gotten better and better with time and each book tends to step it up just one more notch. With Mull's latest in the series, Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary, he manages to move it up quite a few notches! The adventure in this one is heart pounding and the revelations made towards the end make the past reveals seem like nothing. Brandon Mull is headed to the top with this series. The book opens with Kendra Sorensen being pricked by a stingbulb, a piece of fruit that has the ability to change into the person it stings. When the new Kendra, a copy of the original, dies we know that there is a dangerous adventure lurking in front of us and that the person behind it means war. Kendra and Seth are quickly whisked away to Fablehaven, one of the few magical preserves in the world for magical creatures. There they meet up with their grandparents and devise a plan to recover one more of the five secret artifacts scattered about that when combined would open the demon prison. The Society of the Evening Star wants to beat them to the latest artifact though, so they must make haste. To get to the artifact, they have to face Wyrmroost, a dragon sanctuary in which intruders have a very slim rate of survival. As I said before, Brandon Mull takes it up a level with this one. The action is intense, the plot is thick, the characters well written, and the creatures and dragons are just amazing. Those who continually get aggravated with Seth will not be disappointed, though I have to say that Seth seems to be more responsible in his bad choices :p Kendra remains a strong, likeable character and the secondary characters all play large roles. The plot continuously thickens and climaxes into a scene that will have your mind spinning. Now I have to wait a whole year before I get the ending!!! Fablehaven: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary is available today, March 24th everywhere books are sold! Stay tuned for another interview with Brandon Mull in the next few days!
