I did a bad, bad thing....can you guess? Well, I didn't exactly go to a bookstore, but....I got my new Netflix movie in the mail today and they always attach this little advertisement thing to the envelope for some company or another which I usually throw away without even looking at. Well this one had books on it, so of course I looked!

Now I had talked about maybe changing my resolution to possibly limiting myself to one book a month :p Well this little ad worked perfectly! It was for this website called Ever heard of it? It's awesome! It works kind of like Netflix. You set up a queue of books you want...a list, and enter your credit card info. You're automatically billed $9.95 a month and each month they send you the next book on your list! (But of course you don't have to return them like Netflix ;) And shipping is free! They don't have every book you could possibly want, but there's a decent selection and all hardcovers. Can't beat $9.95 for a hardcover! I'm getting Stephen King's new book, Duma Key for $9.95 with free shipping...very cool ;) So that will limit me to one book a month and I was even good by selecting books that I need for challenges. If you want to join, I suggest entering the website by typing the URL as adding the "/netflix" you get your first book for only $4.98.

Here's the first 10 books I've added:

1. The Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey (contains Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon)
2. Spirit Gate by Kate Elliot
3. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
4. Heroes: Saving Charlie by Aurie Wallington
5. Duma Key by Stephen King
6. After Dark by Haruki Murakami
7. The Android's Dream by John Scalzi
8. Eifelheim by Michael Flynn
9. Mary Modern by Camille DeAngelis
10. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Those should take me through my book buying until October (unless of course Orson Scott Card, Neil Gaiman and a few other authors come out with books ;) Speaking of...Neil Gaiman released the cover of The Graveyard book today...oooh!

Woo Hoo! I hadn't seen The Graveyard book cover yet. I can't wait for this one to hit the shelves. I know so many of us will be rushing out to pick it up.

That book site sounds cool. I will have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up Chris! :)

Jeff, Isn't that cover great! I can't wait to add it to my shelves...I've been wanting to read the whole book ever since I read that chapter in Wizards. I think it's hilarious that the cover's done and he's still writing Chapter 7...And I had no idea that it was going to be fully illustrated by cool!

wow, I'm not even a fan of Gaiman but I do like the cover! No mention of the artist?????

oh gawd Chris... the price of the "book a month" is fabulous, but ..but... *sigh* good luck not buying others !! Somehow, I don't see any of us going without buying binges if nothing else!

Jeff was telling me about this post and that site last night. I'll be checking that out.

Great cover for The Graveyard Book. I am always worried a Gaiman cover might disappoint me some day and thus far they have not.

That sounds like the perfect compromise! I've been really tempted by Zooba, but so far have managed to say "no".

Deslily, It's Dave McKean! (The Cover artist that is) He's my favorite :) He's the guy that did the banner on my blog. You might like this little book, Pat. It's a young adult book and that story "The Witch's Headstone" in Wizards is from it! Isn't the price awesome for the book club? That's why I couldn't pass it up. I figured if I was going to allow myself a book a month, I couldn't beat that price for a hardcover and I don't even have to pay shipping that way! I can't wait to read the Pern books either! It's the first book I'm getting and I get all 3 in one! Not to mention it was my first book so I really got all 3 books for $4.98 in a brand new hardcover :D Beat that!

Carl, Very cool site...I'm enjoying it. All of your recent review have now made it onto my "reading list" so eventually I'll be reading everything you've reviewed lately, lol. I LOVE the cover for The Graveyard Book. It's awesome. I can't wait to see all of the inside illustrations too...hell, I can't wait to just read the book. I need to order Odd and the Frost Giants too. You can order it from Amazon UK for just a pound! Of course you have to pay shipping to the US, but it's still pretty cheap. Comes out in March I think, but it won't be released in the US.

Debi, Say YES!!! LOL. Like you didn't know I would do that to you :p It's such a cool website. The way I looked at it, It's obvious that eventually I'd get back on track of buying at least a book a month, right? well I'll never beat the price of a brand new hardcover for $9.95! Awesome!

Hahaha. Addict. Okay, yeah, I know other people who are signed up for the Zooba thing and they love it. I've avoided it, thank goodness. One shot of Bookcloseouts with a Borders chaser, now and then, usually lasts me a while. :)

Bookfool, I'm putting the blame on you :p I was inspired by your one book a month idea, and this worked for me! It puts me on a schedule and keeps me disciplined! Very cool site...I was on bookcloseouts earlier..shhhhhhh....;)

That site sounds dangerous in the best possible way. And how fun to get a book in the mail regularly like that!

I love the cover of the Graveyard Book. I am itching to read that one!

hmmm, I was thinking (smell the smoke?) I went and looked at the Dragonriders of Pern t hat you ordered. It is the same cover for the OLD hardback I have put out by doubleday... I will be extremely interested to see if this is a new publication of that book.. I looked and looked before buying the tpb for a new hardback but all I found offered were old used ones of what you ordered. Let me know when you get that one if it's a new publication and I will begin my search to get it again.
