RIP II Wrap-Up

So it's time to bring Carl's RIP II Challenge to an end and I have to thank him for once again putting together such an incredible challenge and being such an incredible host. This challenge certainly added to my enjoyment of this Halloween season and I've read a few books that I'm sure will become a Halloween tradition. Here's what I read:

1. Dracula by Bram Stoker
2. Renfield: Slave of Dracula by Barbara Hambly
3. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
4. Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
5. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
6. Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman
7. Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
8. The Homecoming by Ray Bradbury
9. Surrender by Sonya Hartnett
10. Edgar & Ellen: Rare Beasts by Charles Ogden
11. Edgar & Ellen: Tourist Trap by Charles Ogden
12. Wizards: Magical Tales From The Masters of Modern Fantasy
13. The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury

Click on any of the above highlighted in blue for my review. I'm sure you'll see a few repeats from the above list on my top books of 2007 list. So it's time for this one to come to a close. I'll spend the rest of my Halloween in bed watching the Halloween marathon on AMC. I've enjoyed reading through this challenge with everyone! Happy Halloween!!

Tomorrow I'll be posting my picks for a new challenge hosted by none other than Annie! It's a great one!

How cute! I love all your poppets and that great fall/Halloween theme you've got all around the books. And, wow, you did a bang-up job on the RIP II. Way to go!

Annie's challenge sounds great, but I am resisting, so far.

What a great bunch of books you finished!! I think this will go down as one of my favorite challenges!! Such a great genre of books....and my TBR list increased exponentially with all the great book reviews!!

Ack!! Another challenge?? I'm in so much trouble!

It's very appropriate and Halloweenish that the final number of books you read ended up being 13 :P

I love the picture with all the books and the Poppets!

Oh, what a fabulous photo of your poppet crew!

I can't believe how many books you managed to read! And of course, most of them got added to my wish list...reading reviews from these challenges sure can be hell on one's wallet, huh? Anyway, congrats on a wonderful pile of books read!

Bookfool, Yeah, I got crazy with the picture lol! That's what being up too long will do to you! I didn't even read close to what I had picked out for myself...and then I bought so many damn books during the challenge that I think my TBR bookshelf is more full now than it was when I started! The point of these challenges for me was to get the shelf cleared out! Oh well...Annie's challenge is so cool! I'm excited about it!

Stephanie, This was one of my favorites too. Right up there with the Once Upon a Time challenge. All of these books were so good. I'm like you, this is one of my favorite genres, so it really wasn't much of a challenge. Oh God, my TBR list got ridiculously long with this one...it's sad. Yeah, another challenge! lol...they never end! I think I'll have to admit failure with some of these next year!

Nymeth, That's the first thing I thought! I started laughing when I counted up 13 books, lol. I swear I didn't plan that number! I went WAY overboard with the poppet buying this season :/ But they were all so cool...I couldn't pass them up! My house is now being taken over by them...

Deslily, I think so, lol! The poppets seem to be taking over...I have 4 more in addition to those! The National Poppet Footbal League (NPFL) not a bad idea there...my Halloween was kinda boring, but not bad. I went to a block party and then laid in bed and watched scary movies. Works for me! Hope yours was good too!

Debi, I know what you mean! I have so many books on my wishlist now as a result of this challenge! It was so much fun though and I had a blast reading everyone's reviews! Carl's challenges are always so much fun. I can't wait for the next one!

JP, I really didn't consider this one much of a challenge and I think that's why I got so much read. I love this genre so it was so much fun! And a definite big hooray for Carl!

Hi Chris,
I am currently reading Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts, and if you don't have it yet, get it, forthwith! It's wonderful!
Ciao,
Amy

Amy, Thanks for letting me know about that one! I've been debating it and I'm glad to hear from a reliable source that it's good ;) I think Bookfool read that one too and gave it a good review. Ok, will do!
