F@#%ing SPAMers

I can't stand SPAM...it aggravates me more than anything. Not so much in my email, because I can just delete it, but now they're attacking my blog posts. I have comments all over the place that say "Qbo2il Great Bl4G!" from "Finance House" and such...Get the bleep off my blog. So, unfortunately I had to add the word verification thing to my comments. Sorry guys. It's the only way to keep the spammers out. I was thinking of just changing my blog address to a Wordpress blog because I had been thinking of doing that lately, but when I was checking it out I decided I like good old Blogger and I'm just going to stay here. I'll just have to moderate comments more. Seriously though, SPAMers need to get a life. Like anyone's going to click on that shit and say "oh, this looks like a great company that's totally legit, let me finance my house through them!" Get a life...

In other news, I made it through week three of the job and things are still going great! I've actually started seeing a few clients and a few parents and more importantly than anything, the first paycheck arrived today :) Migraines have been worse than ever this month for some reason (guessing it's new job stress) and today's just about wiped me out! I'm on serious dosages of pain meds right now and can still feel the headache sitting their underneath it all. Hopefully it goes away soon. I have an appointment with my neurologist in a couple of weeks, so I'll talk to her about it.

I won a book from Eva!! She gave away 4 books to people who had commented during her participation in the 24 hour read-a-thon and I won the 4th book! So I'll be getting a copy of Marked soon which I've been wanting to read ever since Stephanie's review way back when. In the tradition of good karma, I'll be doing a giveaway too soon...I like to keep things balanced, so when I when a book, I like to give a book! I just have to think of something cool....until then, peace!

So far my spam hasn't been too bad but I did get invited to look at some guy's "pretty girls" *Shudder*

Congrats on winning a book!

I sympathize on the migraines. Mine are mostly seasonal though. Fall is evil for me. I've been having a doozy of a headache since Sunday. But I try not to let them interfere with my life too much.

The word verification does keep out most spam, and I love the new blogger feature "email follow-up comments." So blogger gets my vote as being the best. :)

You won a book from Colleen Gleason, too...

Other Chris ;), I've never had SPAM before today and then all of a sudden it was just non stop...I must have had 30 posts. I was deleting them at first, but they were never ending, so I added the word verification thing. They have some weirdos out there, huh? I haven't been invited to look at pretty girls yet, lol...just to refinance my house..

Becky, Aren't migraines horrible...Fall has been really bad for me too this year. Since Sunday?! That's awful. I've been known to have the 3-day headaches, but never that long. Hope it goes away soon :(

I like Blogger too...I'm sticking with it for now. I'm used to it and I like it's features.

Kailana, I just saw that! I'm so excited! Now I really need to put something cool together for a giveaway!

I hate spammers, too. Sounds like it's time to put up the word verification for awhile on my blog, too.

Congrats on winning Marked. I have it waiting on my shelf. At the rate I'm going I'm sure you'll receive your copy and read it before I get mine read. I feel like a snail-reader! You should also stop over at Colleen Gleason's website for some more good news. :)

Booklogged, I just saw my good news on Colleen's blog a little while ago :) I'm going to do a giveaway soon here too...I'm getting an idea!

I've been a slow reader too lately! I don't know what's going on. I think it's the book I'm reading...I really just can't get into it, but I want to see it through...we'll see what happens. Looking forward to Marked though!

Spam really is annoying. Unfortunately I also had to turn word verification on a while back because of it.

Congratulations on the book wins! I remember Stephanie's review of Marked, and it really does sound like a great book.

Sorry to hear about the migraines :( I hope they pass soon!

Nymeth, SPAMers suck! :p Winning books is always cool. Especially these two! I'm so excited about them. The migraine's gone for tonight, thanks :) I just hope that I can eventually get them gone for good, but I'm beginning to think that's a lost cause....we'll see.

glad to see that you aren't against word verification because of spammers! I got cut down alot for using it but I just plain got tired of hitting the delete button. Sorry you are being spammed.. but more sorry you are having the migraines again..pain just plain sucks! I'm more than tired of it too (but mines not headaches)..

Wow! you won two books! How great is that?!!! congrats baby boy!

It happens in cycles. I've put the word verification on and taken it off several times in the past. I've gotten a couple of spams (usually on older posts) lately, so word verification may be due on my blog, too.

I read, years ago, that many people who have migraines notice a coldness in their hands before the migraine hits and that by concentrating on warming their hands (biofeedback)they can lessen the effect. It can also let you know earlier about taking meds. A friend whose young son had migraines said it helped...

i totally agree... do they really think people are going to click on those links. the messages are so garbled and stupid. its just pointless...

i'm glad to hear the job is going well...!

Yeah! I've been getting those awful spams on my blog too! Spend a whole morning deleting them. Word verification can be inconvenient, especially when the letters are unreadable - but so necessary because of spammers.

First paycheck - yay!

Deslily, The word verification doesn't bug me, so I hope it doesn't bug other people too much either. They should arrest SPAMers! It's so annoying!

Yeah, the migraines such, but I'll get through them. I'm sorry to hear that your pain's still bad...did you ever hear anything back from your test results? I hope you get some help with that..

I'm going to do a book giveaway soon myself, so you'll have a chance to win one (or maybe more than one :0) too ;)

Jenclair, That's what I'm thinking I may do too...leave it on for a little while then take it off. It's been on older posts of mine too, but it's so annoying!!

I've tried biofeedback and it's been somewhat successful...my hands get cold too when I'm getting migraines, but I've never put the two together until just now when you mentioned that! That may help. Darla mentioned an herbal medicine called Feverfew awhile ago, I may try that. I've always been a fan of homeopathic medication, but aside from biofeedback and a little meditation (which isn't really successful with a migraine) I haven't tried much with these headaches.

JP, SPAMers are just idiots. I really don't understand it at all. I've always wondered that about SPAMers...do they honestly think that people read these things and visit their websites...I honestly wonder if a single person has ever actually visited one of these websites and bought anything as a result of SPAM. My guess is no. But you know there's probably at least one person out there...

Dark Orpheus, I'm beginning to see that I'm not alone with the spam! What's the purpose? Just to annoy people? And yes, paychecks are indeed good :)

I gave away the four books to help balance out the stuff I won during the read-a-thon! Book karma is a very important thing! :) Congrats no the Gleason win!

chrisa511 said...

Thanks Eva :) Sounds like we'll have book Karma continuing to go down the line in blog land...maybe it'll go full circle and come back to us ;)

would you believe that only yesterday I finally got the results from the cat scan?! Nothing showed up..part of me is very happy.. the other part says: I am still having alot of unexplained pain!

The foot doc checked my very black and blue foot.. guess what?!.. it's still broken! (big surprise huh? heh!)

chrisa511 said...

Oh Pat...I'm glad that your scan came back fine, but at the same time there's nothing worse than knowing something's not quite right but not knowing what's wrong. I'm sorry :( I hope that foot heals soon. I'm giving up on this book I'm reading. It'll be my first did not finish of the year, so I'm trading it for some Kesterwood this weekend ;)

DesLily said...

Ohhhh.. nice trade!!! :o)

yeah, sometimes the longer you can't find out why .. the scarier it gets..

it's only 2 weeks with this foot and it's already driving me crazy..crutches don't do anything nice for a back with bulging disks either! don't get old! lol

Congrats on the book win. Funny you mentioned spam. I've used word verification for quite some time, thanks to a few stupid spams, but I was surprised to see that someone tried to get approval for a humongous spam, today. I mean *HUGE*. Like I'm going to approve it! Duh. In fact, they didn't even manage to get me to read it. The first sentence was enough to know what it was. Someone needs to get a life!

chrisa511 said...

Bookfool, That's hilarious! So someone actually went through the process of doing word verification and everything and having you approve it?? Brother! Looks like I may end up having to do like you and have comments approved...Guess what? After your Du Maurier review I went out and bought Rebecca tonight and I'm getting ready to start it! I couldn't get into the book I was reading, so I ditched it...that's the first time this year that I did that!

Debi said...

Oh Chris, I'm so sorry about the migraines! I hope by the time you read this, it will be long gone...and that they leave you alone for a good long time to come!

Robin said...

The same thing happened to me this week, and I had to put up word verification, too! What a pain!

chrisa511 said...

Debi, It's gone! I don't know about gone for a long while, but it's gone for now and that's good enough for me ;)

Robin, Isn't it a pain? It's just rude! At first it was just one or two comments, so I deleted them, then all of a sudden I had like 20! Sheesh!

Bookfool said...

Yep, they actually did the word verification. Hard to believe, isn't it? I hate to have to approve everything, but then it does actually help ensure that I eventually reply to everybody who comments.

Carl V. Anderson said...

Glad to hear that you made it unscathed through week one!

Odd that you mention Spam, because I've seen alot more "creative" spam getting through to my site lately. It is very, very annoying!!!

Stephanie said...

You'll love Marked!! It really is fantastic. And Book 2, Betrayed is actually a little bit better. Darker and more sinister. LOVED it!!

I can't wait to see what you think of it, my reading twin!

chrisa511 said...

Carl, It does seem to be getting more and more creative. I love these spam emails that I get sometimes. They read like a riveting novel! Tales of people in Africa losing their babies to malicious kidnappers and desperately needing money and promising great returns...I swear, if people need ideas for NaNoWriMo, just check your SPAM!

Steph, You're the reason I've been looking forward to Marked so much! I used to be such a big fan of vampire novels and then kind of lost interest for awhile. Then I read Colleen's books and I'm all into them again! Looking forward to them!
