*Sticky Post* 10,000 Visitors Book Giveaway!

SCROLL DOWN FOR NEWER POSTS

It seems like I just started this blog, though at the same time, it's quickly become a very familiar part of my life. My first blogger post was on January 3rd and since then, this blog has evolved into something that I never imagined it to be, but something that I'm very happy with. It's grown into a community of readers and friends and a celebration of things I love and enjoy and a place to ponder on life...a far cry from my old myspace blog.

What I never imagined was that 8 months later, my blog would have it's 10,000th visitor!! That's incredible. Thanks to the wonders of StatCounter, I found that the 10,000th hit came from a google search for "Tale of Despereaux Review". I thought that it was the perfect hit for this blog. Kate DiCamillo's The Tale of Despereaux sums up what this blog is about. To begin with, it's a book :p It's fantasy related, it's a wonderful, heartwarming story filled with adventure and memorable characters, and it's visually stunning. It's one of those books that's a joy just to hold in your hands. So I'm giving away a copy!

I really wanted to give away a hard back copy, but couldn't find one :( But the soft cover version is even wonderful with it's antiqued pages, wonderful illustrations, and the Newbery medal on the cover. Just leave a comment on this post and let me know that you want in on the drawing. Even if you already own a copy, feel free to enter...maybe there's someone else in your life that would enjoy it. While it was written for children, anyone will enjoy this book, I promise. I certainly did. You can read my review of it by clicking here. The drawing will be held on August 26th!! Spread the word!

Your first post was on my birthday :P I am amazed at how blogging became such a nice part of my life as well. It's really been a rewarding experience.

Congratulations on the 10000 visitors, and count me in for the drawing!

Deslily, You know, that's actually not a bad idea...I may pick up another copy of the Annotated Hobbit for a future giveaway!

Just checked your post!! You've got to be kidding me!! Ha!! That's hilarious. So you still want in or no? You could always send it to your grandson!

Nymeth, Consider yourself entered! I've been blogging for awhile now through myspace and deadjournal before that, but I've never had quite the experience I've had here. It was more of just a personal journaling experience before that no one read. This has really been great!

Congrats on being where you want to be with your blog. It takes a lot of hard work, effort, and dedication (which you seem to have). Keep it up!

This is my first time at your blog, and it seems I have a lot of catching up to do.

Nice coming across your blog. If you're into standup comedy, feel free to stop by my space. You're more than welcome to leave your mark!

Well, lookie that. I don't come by for awhile, and when I stroll back in I find out you're giving away FREE BOOKS! *grin* Who can resist free books? *evil grin* Seriously, though, Chris, I won't enter the draw. I wouldn't want to put you to the trouble of paying for overseas postage (well, ONLY if you let me return the favour and send you something in return). Just really wanted to pop by and say "hello" and I'm looking forward to participating in the R.I.P. with you and all these other fine folks. :)

Chris said...

Cdnreader, Whatever! I'm putting you in the drawing. I don't mind shipping overseas at all :) Good to hear from you again!

I'm signing up! I just stumbled across your blog, and I'll definitely be exploring it. I used to read a lot of fantasy, but after high school it really tapered off. And I love your heading-it reminds me of the Faerie Oracle. :)

Chris said...

Thanks Eva :) Got you in the drawing! My header is a Dave McKean image. He's one of my favorite artists.

Stephanie said...

Oh, I see that I can leave a comment now - thanks!!

Okay, here's the thing: if you give away Despareaux, you must give away Berlitz lessons in French as well. Because if it's going to be read aloud, it MUST be read with a French accent. (Which I can do perfectly. For my class, of course.)

J'aime c'est livre.

Chris said...

Bellezza, J'aime c'est livre aussi!

haha! Do you really read this to your class with a French accent?! That's so great if you do! I took French from first grade all the way through 3 years of college French. I love the language :)

Bellezza said...

Mais, oui! La langue francaise est le plus bon langue en toute la monde.

(Geez, I hope that's right. It's been ages ago, but I did have six years in French. Every time I had to take a Math class, I opted for French instead, because lucky me! It fulfilled the requirement. I even bought my wedding dress in Paris, although don't get me started on French women's sizes. They're about, oh, a zero in American.)

And yes, I do read it with a French accent. The kids love it. I can at least imitate the sound, if not the correct grammar, at this point.

Chris said...

It all looks right to me Bellezza :) I've never been out of the country, but Paris is one of the top places on my list of places I'd love to go. We have a saying here in New Orleans that I'm sure isn't 100% grammatically correct, but you here it and see it everywhere you go. It's almost our slogan down here: Laissez les bon temps rouler! "Let the good times roll" Lots of "cajun french" down here ;)
