Bodies suck...

Sorry I've been a stranger the past couple of days...there have been some health issues here that hopefully are no big deal, but have been a little bit of a concern. Hopefully they remedy themselves soon..if not, a call to the doctor has been made. Nothing serious, no need for alarm. Just one of those weird things to keep life interesting.

In the meantime, I've been keeping busy with Colleen Gleason's book and it's just great! About 2/3 of the way through it now, and damn! She's about to give me a heart attack a few times with this one. Very gripping story, very suspenseful, and I have to agree with what so many people have said already...I didn't know her writing could improve, but it certainly has! I'm hoping that Colleen plans on sticking around for a long time because I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of hers.

Another love of mine is Feist. Feist is the musical genius of Leslie Feist. Her last album, Let it Die, stole my heart and won me over. Her newest, The Reminder, sealed it with a kiss. There's just something about this woman. Her voice is one of the finest out there. It's beautiful and heartbreaking. It's like finely spun sugar...soft, delicate, sweet and oh so fragile...it can crack at any minute...and she lets it crack sometimes and when it does it's perfect. You can hear 3 of the new songs from the album on her myspace page, including the more pop-py song 1,2,3,4, the single. Also on the myspace page is the very catchy song Mushaboom which was the single off of their last album. Very different from everything else they've done, but still a very fun song. Give them a listen.

That's all I've got for now...hopefully there will be some more interesting posts to come when I'm feeling less under the weather. Oooh, I ordered one of Stormfilled's journal's today! That's the other thing I wanted to say. Can't wait to get that. They're beautiful. K, that's it.

Hi, Chris - I haven't read anything by Gleason before, but after reading your post, I'm sold! Do you have a suggestion for a good one to start with? Thanks!

Get well soon, Chris!

Feist really is lovely, isn't she? I love Let it Die, but I haven't listened to the new one yet. I really must.

Do you like Broken Social Scene? They're the reason why I first got into her, and I must say I love them even more than her solo work.

Hey! You can't get sick!!.. wait..tell me you didn't drink the water while on vacation!?!

seriously, I hope you are better soon without having to go to a doctor.

She's only written 2 Darla D. It's a new series. Normally I (a guy) wouldn't be caught dead reading a romance novel, but these are considered "paranormal romances" and are very romancey in my opinion. The first is The Rest Falls Away. The series is The Gardella Vampire Chronicles and it's really great. Check it out. You'll love it :)

Hey Nymeth, I love Feist...her voice just hypnotizes me. Never heard of Broken Social Scene. I'll have to check them out, thanks for the lead!

Deslily, :/ I managed to not drink the water, but forgot about the ice. Really long story that's not pretty, but I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow. So hopefully all is better after that.

Thanks, Chris. Would you believe my library doesn't have any of her books? Grmph. Thank goodness for interlibrary loans...as long as I can keep out of the bookstore between now and when it comes in!

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks Darla! Colleen's book's a great one. It's in paperback for $6.99. I know those paperbacks can add up too though ;)

Chris, I know what you mean about bodies, but on the other hand, just think of some of the wonderful things about bodies...

Isn't Colleen's book great?! I loved it.

Yeah, I guess there's just a few good things about bodies ;) Problem solved now, so I'm off my pity pot :)

Colleen's book is wonderful! Can't wait for the 3rd.

Chris, Broken Social Scene are the band she's in. Their sound is quite different from that of her solo material - rockier and fuller - but it's also very melodic and beautiful.

I've uploaded one of their songs for you. It's one of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard and, well, I know you're sad about the loss of your friend Nattie, so I thought that maybe music could offer a little bit of comfort. I know nothing can bring her back, but music is often helpful to me when I'm sad.

If you like it, I really recommend their second album, "You Forgot It in People".

Quix, We seem to have very similar music taste, so I'm sure you'll love Feist. Her music is great. Great music to chill out to. I'm so excited about Stormfilled's journal! They're gorgeous!

Thanks Nymeth! Heading over to check it out in a sec.

All better now Carl, Thanks!

Nymeth, LOVED that song...added the CD to my amazon wishlist. Reminded me of 2 more bands you might like (this could get dangerous for us bothe :p) Frente is one and The Radio Dept. is the other. Heard of either of them? Frente is no longer together...from the late 90's, female lead singer with a gorgeous voice....Radio Dept. is an incredible newer band with a very hazy sound...I think you'd like them.

I'm so glad you liked it!

I have heard of Frente, but I haven't actually heard anything by them. Of The Radio Depth I have not heard. Both names are now written down, though, and I will check them out!
